This whole ordeal is confusing From what I read it would be common in an electrical fire for the pilots to pull all of the circuits and restore them one by one to try to isolate the problem. The communication circuits would be last on the list since the main goal is flying the plane. The smoke could have overtaken the crew. The plane would still fly for a while on autopilot. Again, one common-sense theory that I've read.
March 20, 201412 yr I've heard in TV reports several times that the pilots programmed in the west/southwest turn at least 10 minutes before signing off with Malaysian tower. They then turned west/southwest. How does that square with an electrical fire or some other malfunction? I can't think of a way it makes sense.

March 23, 201412 yr NBC News earlier reported that Malaysia is now changing the previous report that the turn was already programmed when the pilot signed off. So, if this new "truth" is the actual truth, then the accident explanation is more plausible.

March 24, 201412 yr There were only two options. It was on land in the middle east somewhere or in the southern Indian Ocean where debris wouldn't be washing up on shore within a few days.
March 24, 201412 yr Somehow they did further calculations based on the pings from the satelite that gave them the two arcs last week and were able to rule out the northern arc. I don't think they've said what those calculation were but I probably wouldn't understand anyway.
March 24, 201412 yr The Malaysian Government couldn't have handled this ordeal worse. The complete lack of info they gave to families, and then telling them through text that their loved ones have been lost. Also the lack of info they shared with other countries which hurt the search is alarming as well. Of course the US, Australia, and China have to clean up this mess.
