Is this an Officiating "No No"?

Featured Replies

I mentioned the following in the Holmes/Highlands game thread (post 19), http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-boys-basketball/holmes-60-highlands-273759.html

"Class move of the night belongs to the Official below.......With under a minute to go and Holmes out of timeouts, Bulldogs player Andrew Arnold was waiting to get in at the scorers table, realizing that no timeout or stoppage in play was coming, this official blow his whistle to stop play, and bent over to act like he was tying his shoe thus allowing Arnold to enter the game. The crowd realizing what had happened got a big kick out of it, and Coach Booher told young Mr. Arnold, "go over and thank him".

paNDA mentioned that the "purest" might not like it. What say you?

IMO, don't care if it is a "no no" or not, love the move. :thumb:

All good officials will do it.

I like that.

It's a good move, happens all the time. A good official will try to "find" something to make this happen. Class move.

Official shouldn't have too. One of his teammates should of done it. John Wall knows how to get a seldom used teammate in a game.

I didn't see senior night at Mich. st, but heard Izzo told his player to throw the ball out of bounds in order to get a player into the game as the clock was running down.

He did exactly that. Pointed right at the sign and said "throw it here."

I guess Booher does not watch sports center? :lol2:

I think this is the same official that was talking with the fans courtside late in the game. He was being razzed by a fan about calling the lane violation on HHS. I was told they had a playful exchange.

He engaged the fan in a respectful way - " it was clearly a lane violation and its in the rule book. I had to call it. Are there other violations you want me to ignore? "

Another fan close by answered " Offensive goal tending". The official smiled and said OK you got me.

I see a fellow BGP'er in the background.

He don't know "Jack". :sssh::lol2:

As long as the outcome is already decided I have no issue with it. But Agee with R.E. that a teammate needs to do things to get teammates into the game, as like John Wall, who was mentioned.

I believe I saw this occur earlier this year (different official), and I swear he didn't even bother to fake an excuse. He simply blew the whistle, motioned for the subs to come in, and then put the ball back in play.
