Could a Mod put a space in the thread title

I understand the 5th ammendment is her right. I just have trouble justifying someone who works for the American taxpayer such as Lois Lerner hiding behind the 5th and not being truthful with her employers the American citizens.

Was it this lady or someone else who visited the White House umpteen times?

Some say she waived the 5th with her opening statement at the last hearing. If you plead the 5th you are supposed to go silent. Putting your side of the story in the record, THEN pleading the 5th is not the norm.

Cummings ran interference today with high drama and theater.

As long as the Justice Department says there is an open investigation into possible criminal activity (even though our signer-in-chief has already declared that there was no corruption) she will continue to take the 5th. My feeling is that if she is granted immunity she will fall on her own sword and say she acted independently and then be granted a pardon from the imperious leader.

Forgive my ignorance here...and believe me I'm no law scholar...but CAN you even do that? If you "testify" and put your version of events on record, then you open yourself up to cross exam and if you don't answer you are then in contempt of court? Or am I completely lost?

Thais why some say she waived her right to the 5th. I believe only action available is a Contempt of Congress charge.

Story is Lerner's attorney approached congress with a blanket immunity deal. Rep Trey Gowdy is quoted as saying something along the lines that Lerner will never get blanket immunity.

Also Issa is saying Lerner could be held in contempt as early as next week.

I haven't been following this story, but I thought she retired quite a while back.

throw her in ther tank til she talks ( for contempt )

I thought she was moved to a different division when scandal broke , she could of stepped down I forget. But she still has yet gone on the record and told her story to congress .

Darrell Issa, who's trying real hard to be the next Joe McCarthy, also took the fifth today when confronted by Elijah Cummings.

Actually no Darrell Issa closed the meeting because Lois Lerner decided to take the 5th again today. Then Elijah Cummings throws a hissy fit like a child because Issa won't let him turn a serious investigation into his personal sermon. Cummings is a clown and was a side show.
