March 5, 201412 yr When looking at the landscape of college basketball this season, it has been an absolute mess. Is this the year a team like Wichita State wins it all?
March 5, 201412 yr Took a whole one reply before someone attempted to ruin this thread. Yes, I think Wichita State has a fantastic chance to win the title, and barring an absolute nightmare of a bracket, I don't see anyway I don't have them in the Final Four at least. March 5, 201412 yr It was a joke, geez. But if that joke's pointing the other way, there are two dozen people screaming bloody murder about "How dare he say that about the 'Cats?!?!" Another two dozen are parsing out every word of the "joke" in an effort to legitimize it, and the other two dozen will start debating the difference between whether Cal is "unconcerned" or in fact "doesn't care" about UK's FT shooting.
March 5, 201412 yr I really do not think so. I think I can list about 20 teams that have a shot to win it and only two are mid major. Wichita St and SD State, neither of which would be in my top ten teams. One thing is for certain nobody has shown they are a clear cut favorite and that bodes well for UK. Creighton I feel like is just not capable of making a run to win the whole thing.
March 5, 201412 yr Any season now is as good as any for a true mid-major to win the title. If VCU, Butler, and George Mason can make the Final Four, and Butler going to the title game twice, a lot of teams can do it. All depends upon match-ups, upsets, etc.
March 5, 201412 yr Serious question given the title of the thread, should Louisville win this year would they be consider a mid major as they are no longer in the Big East? I really don't expect them to win it all, and I realize that this is just a season in limbo between the Big East and ACC, but are they technically by definition a mid major this season. If so than UK's best win this season is against a mid major team.

March 5, 201412 yr Well that mid major conference will have 5 teams in the NCAA tourney and that power conference SEC is looking at 3 or 4 at best. In fact two of the four projected now are last 4 in so that could easily tip to two. Just food for thought.

If so than UK's best win this season is against a mid major team. I understand your question and I would not think so. People can never give a definition of "mid-major". I started a thread once asking what a mid-major was, and what I surmised is that most people define a mid-major as every school not in one of the Power 6 conferences, BUT, also a mid-major is not considered a traditional good team on the national scene either. I asked about Gonzaga, and everyone was like, "well, they are not a mid-major. Same for Butler. (but every other team in their conference is)" OK? Made no sense to me but that seemed to be the consensus. To me you would think your conference affiliation would define it, but who knows? I posed this same question when Memphis made the finals.
March 5, 201412 yr I don't think so but I thought a mid major won it last year. Harsh. But funny. :thumb:
