August 27, 201412 yr ......... My 75 may not hit it on the head...but it is going to be darn close. Of course, the number of people that will follow the last month of the season closely with College Football and NFL starting up will number in the 10's. I'll add that my order of Cards / Brewers / Pirates / Reds / Cubs is looking pretty tasty right now.

Injuries surely helped you get close to that number. I do believe at full strength this is a 90 win team especially considering the years Farzier, Meso, and Hamilton had. Going to be an interesting off season.

I do believe at full strength this is a 90 win team especially considering the years Farzier, Meso, and Hamilton had. Going to be an interesting off season. Injuries are part of it, for sure, but the crux of my point was that their was no organizational depth (plus a first year manager, plus an inconsistent offense), and that is what manifested itself when guys went down. That doesn't change next year, in fact, I'd say they'll be worse next year (if they do the right thing) after making the offseason moves that can help rebuild this thing to be able to consistently win for another 3-5 year span.

Hamilton has been entertaining--but he's been part of the problem with the offense. Sure, his .263 batting average has been better than most expected but his .296 OBP and 18 caught stealing (which further devalues his OBP) are not good at all. As a matter of fact it is below Drew Stubbs 2010-11 season when he was seen as a big problem in the offense.

August 27, 201412 yr And that team won 90+ games. One of them did--and Stubbs OBP was over 30 points higher than Hamilton's. The other one went 79-83. No matter how entertaining he is if your leadoff hitter has a sub .300 OBP and has gets caught stealing 20+ times (which makes his true OBP somewhere in the .260s) you have a problem.

Right, so I stand by my statement. I get what your saying. He needs to get on base more we all know that. The pitching and rest of the team is good enough to win 90 games in that division when healthy. I think the last few years proved that. This team has flaws and will have issues going forward but the core right now is decent. Assuming Votto will be healthy again is a big assumption.

The rest of the roster isn't good enough to overcome that. His OBP has not helped at all. The team is below average offensively everywhere but 3B, 2B and C this season.

September 24, 201411 yr Well done... :irked:  Still have to go 2-3 to nail it on the head. Believe me, my last several months would have been a LOT more fun had I been dead wrong.
September 24, 201411 yr ........ They have a leadoff hitter who is likely to be among the worst everyday players in the Majors. They have a disgruntled 2B who is either going to play like a house-a-fire or pout and be miserable. Votto and Bruce are known entities. They have 5-8 in their lineup that are somewhere in the neighborhood of average to bad. They have a starter who has lat issues and can't stay healthy. They have a starter with a knee injury. They have a .500 pitcher (I know records don't tell any of the story, just let me rant) who just got PAID. They have a soft-tossing kleptomaniac who I think is WAY over-rated. They have a hard-throwing lefty still with a lot to figure out. They have a 1st time manager. They have a terrible bench and a farm system lacking any offensive talent whatsoever. Lastly....again...I HOPE I'm wrong. Which of these statements would you say proved accurate?
