MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ....... Cardinals with 101 wins. Brewers with 88 Pirates with 84 Reds with 75 Cubs with 61
LRCW Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ....... Cardinals with 101 wins. Brewers with 88 Pirates with 84 Reds with 75 Cubs with 61 Wow. You're really down on the Reds. I know you've shared your thoughts and reasons, but I'm very optimistic about the team this year.
HammerTime Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ....... Cardinals with 101 wins. Brewers with 88 Pirates with 84 Reds with 75 Cubs with 61 I understand some of your concerns with the team but I don't see how losing Choo makes them THAT much worse. Hell they won 97 games with Drew Stubbs hitting lead off.
LRCW Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I understand some of your concerns with the team but I don't see how losing Choo makes them THAT much worse. Especially with Cueto and Ludwick being injured most of the year.
HammerTime Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Especially with Cueto and Ludwick being injured most of the year. And now a full year of Cingrani.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 STL: 92-70 Cin: 90-72 Pit: 82-80 Mil:71-91 Chi: 69-93
UKMustangFan Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I understand some of your concerns with the team but I don't see how losing Choo makes them THAT much worse. Hell they won 97 games with Drew Stubbs hitting lead off. Barring a major injury, I guarantee they win more than 75 games. Way too much talent in the rotation to do anywhere close to that poorly.
spindoc Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 STL 92 CIN 92 PITT 90 MIL 80 CHI 70 I think the Pirates take a step back but I sure hope you're right.
UKMustangFan Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I think the Pirates take a step back but I sure hope you're right. They lost Burnett, no chance Liriano comes close to duplicating what he did last season, and they lost Marlon Byrd, Justin Morneau, and Garrett Jones. No meaningful additions....I don't see them coming anywhere close to what they did last season.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I understand some of your concerns with the team but I don't see how losing Choo makes them THAT much worse. Hell they won 97 games with Drew Stubbs hitting lead off. A) I hope I'm wrong. B) I'm 100% sure that at 10:15 PM, the night of their 76th win, I'll get slaughtered on here. C) I think they are going to stink and have said that since pre-Halloween, losing Choo was just a small factor. Again, I'm a schmuck with an opinion, so not only could I be wrong, but I HOPE I am. I have to sit through 40 some games (have to is relative, of course), so I hope they are winning their man-parts off.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 ........ They have a leadoff hitter who is likely to be among the worst everyday players in the Majors. They have a disgruntled 2B who is either going to play like a house-a-fire or pout and be miserable. Votto and Bruce are known entities. They have 5-8 in their lineup that are somewhere in the neighborhood of average to bad. They have a starter who has lat issues and can't stay healthy. They have a starter with a knee injury. They have a .500 pitcher (I know records don't tell any of the story, just let me rant) who just got PAID. They have a soft-tossing kleptomaniac who I think is WAY over-rated. They have a hard-throwing lefty still with a lot to figure out. They have a 1st time manager. They have a terrible bench and a farm system lacking any offensive talent whatsoever. Lastly....again...I HOPE I'm wrong.
