Have to love the fight the Cats had but that's about all you get. Brutal game and it falls squarely on Cal. Once Robic started calling the plays and letting the players do there thing it was a different team.

I believe UK's shooting woes are more mental at this point than anything else, so they continuously drive into traffic and throw up prayers, which result in shooting 26.9% against the worst team in the SEC.

I really would like to see a kid in a UK uni who could shoot the thing. A collection of strong handed slashers hasn't worked well.

It was amazing to me how once they started running set plays they finally got open looks and buried them.

I try to be a glass half full guy. I'll be miserable after the season if they do what many think they'll do. Being miserable during the season serves no point IMO. A fan of any team should hope for the best and not kill themselves thinking about the worse.

Same here. At the beginning of the season I said there would be bumps in the road....just didn't know it would be this bumpy. Still I am here for the journey these young men are taking us on and support them through good and bad times. To me that is what a true fan does.

I commend you both. I'm more of a realist. This team is just not that good and to think they will get better, we're fooling ourselves. That stated, I hope I'm VERY wrong.

I will agree there, for sure.

Randle offensively has been annoying as well. Everyone knows he's going left and he still goes that way. As long as they make him go right and have a help guy to the left side he's shut down. Nobody that physically imposing should be shut down down low

um, Young is no different

Has Cal checked out? He has not appeared happy or upbeat the entire season. Radio commentators in Lexington have mentioned that at various times. He is skilpping pre-game/post-game interviews and letting assistants handle it. Is he tired of providing answers to a fan base that wants answers and keeps questioning the approach? He makes 'marketing' like statements - like going 40-0; and then before the last losses he said the team was still in the running for a top seed in the NCAA. The extremely sophisticated fan base does not just buy into that type of hyperbolic statements without something to base them on. And so the marketing statements do not work on a large chuck of BBN.

But in general, he just seems much more unhappy this year.

Based on today's events a logical question would be - do the players believe that he has checked out? They seemed much more animated and interested after the ejection.

Two straight years without a true D-1 level point guard. Shouldn't happen, not at UK anyway.

One of my thoughts when he got ejected was his way of saying I can't do this for you, you're on your own out there. The team grew more in the 14 minutes he wasn't in the floor than at any point this season.

So long top 25 ranking. They had better right the ship against Alabama or they are looking at 10 losses going into the SEC tourney. Even if they beat the Tide at the end of it all they are looking at 11 losses. Who would have thought that, according to some, the greatest collection of college talent in the history of the game would have that many losses. I see the talent. I see the strain on Cal's face as he is mystified during a game on what he can do differently to turn these guys around. My take is they don't have a true point guard, someone who can run the team and take over in the end. They don't have a lock-down defender who can shut the other teams best player down. Their transition defense (and their half court defense for that matter) is absolutely awful. They don't press nearly enough or just apply pressure (trapping when they get opportunity, etc) all over the floor. Their offense is fine as long as they are given fast break opportunities but in the half court they if they don't get a lob they have to settle for a 3. They just don't get it. We've all been waiting since about week 3 for them to mature ( they are so young is all we've heard) but they are almost out of time. I don't blame Cal. I think he's given this team 150%. It's on the players at this point. They have about 5 or 6 chances left before the big dance to flip the switch or they will go from the best class in college history to the biggest flop in college history. JMHO.

A group of the best players in the nation. But they just don't click. It all comes down to karma and this team just doesn't have it.

I was thinking the same thing. I know he has missed several of his weekly call in show and a couple of shows he has come on said what he wanted to say took no calls and left and turned the show over to the assistant.

Folks it is all on Cal. He isn't that good a coach. He is 42-20 over last 2 years.

Tubby was 44-25 his last two season at UK.

Billy G was 40-27 over his last two seasons.

So why not demand change? Cal is responsible.

Wait till next year when we have the best recruiting class in history...

Not sure why everyone is liking this post. Pretty sure almost any fan base would trade the last 5 years for any 5 year stretched in their teams history. This years recruits just didn't pan out like most thought. It happens.
