Congrats to all the young men named to this team. Glad to see Morrison and Kuntz on the list! Maybe we should have Brandon and Nick play 1:1 for the title.

Do initial nominations come from a player's own coach or from other schools' coaches? I'm only asking because it would seem difficult to determine a player's level of academic achievement if he's at a different school.

Congrats to all the players selected but I sure would have liked to have seen Cooper's Colin Hathorn on this list. He's the best shot blocker in NKY in my opinion. He'll continue to be a beast next year as well.

Don't know but in the case of Nate Wichmann of CovCath, the young man is a National Merit Finalist. That achievement is indeed a honor, as less than 1% of HS students earn that honor much less plays and is a very important member of a 25-1 top rated basketball team in the Commonwealth.

Congrats to all the young men on this list!

Kuntz is the best shot blocker. It is easy to stand under the basket and block shots. Kuntz gets most of his block shots chasing the dribbler on a fast break off the glass.

Don't agree with Kuntz as defensive POY. Give me Aaron Morgan from Cooper any day. There is more to D than blocking a few shots.

He also has alot of rebounds to.

CovCath goes 25-1 and undefeated in KY with only 1 of the top 12 players in NKY? Heck of a job by Coach Ruthsatz. :thumb:

Excellent point and I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it. IMO it's a very solid list of players in DI, but CovCath ran the table against the other eight schools in DI, and yet only had one player among the 12 best at these nine schools? Hmm. I guess Ruthsatz did do a whale of a job.

Or maybe CovCath is just so deep that they have four or five more players that would be in the top 20, but none quite able to crack the top 12?

You could make an argument either way on this one, and I'd be good with it. In DI, nine big schools are nominating their best for only 12 spots, some good players are going to be left off however you slice it.

Who on the team should be replaced and which CCH player takes his place?

I think it's a good list, and before anyone gets their feathers ruffled, I'm just answering the question. IF you replace anyone it would be one of the two lowest vote getters (Schreck or White) with Schult from CovCath.
