Will Cordia Suffer the Wrath of the KHSAA This Week?

Featured Replies

I watched JJ play a lot over the summer...kid plays with a swag. Especially in games like that. Don't doubt he didn't say anything. I almost guarantee he did. Still, that doesn't warrant him getting hit like that.

He must have changed because last time I seen him play he was calm as calm could be. Was respectful to the players and everything. Helped them up after running over them, smacking them on the butt, telling them good job on charge calls and everything.

I have heard that they are talking about suspending Cordia's entire team except for one local kid.

I'm sure the Cordia supporters will contend it was self-defense.

Looks to me like Mr. Chapman, who came to Cordia to escape a bad environment, brought his bad environment with him.

Probably Johnson swinging his elbows.

Foul was called on Chapman.

Someone mentioned it might have been building up the entire game? Still no excuse to go "Jersey" on Johnson.

Not familiar with Bender other than he is a LVille guy...details?

Played basketball at Ballard; infamously declared the was going to turn pro after his junior year of high school. Was a member of Rick Pitino's bizarre first recruiting class at UofL that also featured Carlos Hurt (but to be fair also included Otis George, Alhaji Mohammed and Larry O'Bannon); transferred to a junior college halfway through his first season after being suspended twice. Played overseas for a while, but has more recently been renowned for getting universities in trouble with the NCAA, such as his involvement in the 2011 investigation into the University of Central Florida. Said in a radio interview that he was going to "tell the whole truth about UofL's program" in an upcoming interview that never materialized in the wake of the UCF investigation. Got involved with Seneca QB Damarcus Smith and led him to UCF... Smith is now at WKU.

Chapman received 2 game suspension and couple other kids got 1 game for leaving bench.

Two-game suspension for Chapman. Cordia

- One-game suspension for Sizemore. PCC

- One-game suspension for Lawson. PCC

News Releases

“On Friday, Feb. 21 an unsporting act took place in a boys’ basketball game between Cordia and Perry County Central. The officials assigned to the game ejected one student-athlete from Cordia who was directly involved in the incident and two student-athletes from Perry County Central for leaving the bench area. While video of the incident is available online, KHSAA Board of Control Policies state that the KHSAA staff is limited in the manner in which the video is used during the disciplinary process, unless the contest officials make a request for review of the specific incident. In this instance, the contest officials made no such request and therefore the KHSAA is not permitted to act upon video evidence, and must abide by the minimum required penalty of a two-game suspension for the Cordia player and a one-game suspension for each player from Perry County Central. Administration from Cordia has reported to the KHSAA that additional actions will be taken at the school level, as they do not condone the actions of the young man in question.”

I'm all for giving kids second chances. Not on this type deal however.

The redneck in me wants to know why he didn't have the testacles to at least do it eyeball to eyeball.

Cop out. Someone needs to request it then.

Ya think.!!!!

Does the KHSAA always put out press releases for fights and suspensions?

Only after the 500th phone call and email.

I know this is a big one due to circumstances but I don't think it's fair to single out Cordia. Should be all or none IMO
