February 21, 201412 yr Whew. Just scanned the list for Cains Chicken. Relieved it's not there. Cane's was a must-stop place any time I was in Lexington, until we finally got one here in Louisville.
February 21, 201412 yr I just noticed the Bowling sign on the building. Where would that be? In the basement? The scene for Chinese Turkey at Bo’ Ling Chop Sury Palace was filmed in Toronto, Canada. It is still a restaurant but now serves French Food. The idea for the name Bo’ Ling Chop Suey Palace in which the sign clearly reads Bowling with the light for the “w” burnt out came from the real life experience of assistant director Ken Goch. When he was a child, Ken’s mother had actually mistaken a Bowling alley with a burnt out “w” for a Chinese restaurant when trying to find a place for the family to eat. Lucky for them there was a restaurant attached to the Bowling alley.

February 22, 201412 yr Most of those are bad restaurants anyway. On a side note, I used to eat lunch at Phillips Market just about everyday when I was at UK thirty some years ago. Was a mom and pop place, the ladies made good home style food.
February 22, 201412 yr I started working in restaurants when I was 12. Spent more than 20 years in the business. You'd be surprised what can cause you to get an 85. Your kitchen might be spotless, but dirty handles on your trash cans can cost you 5 points. Most restaurants really do work hard at keeping their places clean.
February 22, 201412 yr Isn't Desha's closed? Yes. And it really went to pot the last few months. It is a shame... It used to be one of the nicer places in Lex to eat. I hope that a reputable chain takes it's spot.
February 22, 201412 yr Movie Tavern is the one most folks around me are talking about being on the list. It is a pretty popular spot (I haven't been there myself)

February 22, 201412 yr This is going to sound like the most judgmental thing ever & it might be, but some of the people I see at Golden Corral are disgusting. I would share a story but I just ate. That's the main reason my wife won't eat there.

February 22, 201412 yr Phillips Market is great food, but not surprised by the score. Will still be eating there.
