Moeller is ranked #20 in the nation according to Maxpreps, I think they are overated in that aspect. It will be a very, very tough game for CC but I don't think it will be a blow out. I think CC will keep it close, and if they are within 5 going into the 4th quarter, who knows.

Getting whipped by E-town hurt them badly. That same MadCentral team has lost to Lincoln County twice. Yep, the same Lincoln County who Montgomery beat by 2 at home and was their only true quality win until they beat Wayne County on Sunday. MadCentral didn't become quality until they beat Holmes at MadCentral. The same MadCentral who managed to almost beat Montgomery County at MadCentral.

Just saying....

You lost me when you had a thought.

Montgomery Co is a top 10 team.

Madison Central is not a top 20 team.

Just my opinion.

If Montgomery Co had lost to Etown by 16 instead of 29, would that change anything?

Madison Central has been too inconsistent this year. I think you can make an argument either way on them. They are one of the most physical rebounding teams I've seen in a long time, and that can take you a long way.

They have some nice wins over John Hardin, Collins and now Holmes, but bad losses to Dunbar (though they are playing better) and Tates Creek.

I think they are probably a top 25 team, but maybe just out of the top 20.

Don't know. The rankings aren't done by one person.

While last year's schedule was slightly better, Montgomery Co. has played a soft schedule. Look at it and tell me who stands out on there as a really significant test. At least last year they played Trinity and Mad Central who were top 5. With that said, they have one loss but that loss against a decent opponent was a smackdown. I think MoCo could have a case made for them, but their schedule hurts them no doubt. Same reason Hoptown is 3rd instead of 2nd.

They lost to Madison Central and Trinity last year.

I really don't understand the excitement people have with losing to good teams. If Montgomery Co added losses to Ballard and Trinity to their results this season, would that be a reason to move them up in the rankings? Their SOS would be higher, but I don't think that makes them look better.

I was actually thinking they have had similar results this year. They have 4 wins against top 20 teams according to this poll. I think wins over Wayne Co and Lincoln Co are similar to their best wins over Collins and Cov Cath last year. The loss to Etown doesn't seem much worse than last years loss to Bryan Station.

Look, you can slice it anyway you want. Bell Co and Powell Co aren't the type game this team needs to play to help them. No one said a loss to Ballard would help them in a ranking. However, how about if they played them close? Or how about a game with KCC, PCC, or anyone else for that matter in the top 20. Yep they played Wayne at home and beat them (3rd game in 3 days for Wayne, and I still say with rest on a neutral floor I'd take Wayne). I say good for them. Still not buying. Should have minor tests the next 2 games then 3 layups to finish off with 1 loss on the season. Outstanding year for sure. Let's see if they can win that region.

In regards to their out of district schedule, the teams Montgomery has played so far this year are a combined 253-202 as of today. To me, that's a pretty good sign that you are playing teams that are pretty decent. Is their schedule not as tough as last year? Possibly, but it's not weak by any means.

Trivia:

Wayne County, 25-1, 15 home games (according to KHSAA) 57% home

Montgomery County, 23-1, 9 home games (according to KHSAA) 37.5% home

Just trivia.

Montgomery opponents that are a combined 253-202 could also mean that their opponents don't have tough schedules either.

In the 2-5-14 BGP rankings Montgomery County was 16th and Wayne County was 10. Wayne County beat Knott County Central and lost to Montgomery County. Stayed at 10. Montgomery County beat Wayne County. Moved up to 15.

Should Montgomery have jumped to #9 after a home win against Wayne County?
