Never said that they didn't.

I think that kind of reenforces some of what I was saying about not looking very deep into some wins while taking more from others.

Doss can play closer with Ballard in each school's backyard than they can with 12th Region schools in Christmas tournaments.

I'll stand by saying that there are some schools in the Louisville area who are consistently underrated because they aren't the #1 or #2 team in the 6th/7th like a PRP, Ballard, or Trinity.

There's a reason the LIT and 6th and 7th Region tournaments are wars. There's a reason that Ballard can play a healthy dose of Louisville teams each year but still go to national tournaments and beat a LOADED team like Euless Trinity or Riverside or go out in the state and stomp other teams. It looks like they get plenty of prep at home, which tells me that there are some good Louisville teams who don't get the love that they might if more of us saw them play. Most years, 3rd or 4th best in one of your Louisville regions is probably good enough to run through the majority of the 12th-16th region's fields.

There's a reason that most regions are licking their chops if they draw one of the Regions 12-16 in the majority of years-- those schools have had much tougher games in their regional tournaments than they blowouts they'd put on those schools.

12-16 region teams have shown that they are capable of playing with Louisvillr schools at Rupp. Louisville teams, within the turn of the Century, have generally underachieved at Rupp. No reason that Ballard should have ever lost Ballard. No reason Rowan should have beaten Bullitt East. I can keep looking if I wanted to. Anything can happen in basketball. It just takes one bad game in March for a great season to end.

Hadn't thought of the bolded like that, but it's a good point.

I try.

Dont argue with purple. He prob played basketball at Bowling Green back in the day and knows what hes talking about.

I didn't play for BG but I should have. I'd have loved to have been a part of that team. One of my biggest regrets in life.

I understand what you are saying, but by the time the Louisville schools have beaten each other up, got good and bad draws, and the rest of the state is a 14 team field, 10 years isn't a very big sample size. The 6th and 7th Regions typically perform well at State.

I know that Johnson Central beat Jeffersontown one year. I know Shelby Valley beat Ballard. But I'd say that the 6th/7th get to more semis, where anyone has a chance to win, than the 12th-16th combined.

Took a lucky banked in 3 pointer at the buzzer by Ian Chiles for Ballard to beat Warren Central. I know that is 4th Region but still.

I think the 4th is up there with the 2nd and 9th in the group right behind the Lexington and Louisville regions. Might add the 10th and 5th to that group too during some of their runs.

Before law school, I went to 15 straight Sweet 16s. I saw more good 4th region teams between Russellvilles, Warren Centrals, and Bowling Greens than I did weaker ones like the Greenwoods.

Way to peel the scab off. The very next year, WC went on to lose to an Eastern team that had FOUR D-1 signees. The very next game, Eastern lost to Christian County who beat Rowan County (who took down BE) in the finals.

BG has not performed well at Rupp historically. Too much emphasis on football. It would be unfair for them to be great at both.

Ehhhhh...Warren Central has dominated the 4th this century. 4th Region runs through them.

I'll never forget that game. Shanklin and Fant were a helluva combo.

I look at the top of the 14th like some people have recently been looking at SEC football (no I'm not saying the 14th is on par with SEC football). No team really has a standout win outside the region, but they've been beating up on each other all year.

Never said that they didn't.

I think you are probably right that a lot of years a couple teams outside of the elite Louisville program probably get overlooked, but I think the same thing happens to the 12-16 region school. The 12th region has not been a very strong region for a while, so I think people are underestimating Wayne Co and Lincoln Co this year. The 12th and 14th are both very good regions this year.

I would not overlook Lincoln CO. they are very well coached by someone who has already won the Sweet Sixteen.
