February 10, 201412 yr Author I see this as wrong on so many levels.... I have mixed feelings about it but it rubs me the wrong way, as well.
February 10, 201412 yr Let's go into conspiracy mode. Let's say there's an American overseas who knows the US govt has committed illegal acts and these go to very high levels in the govt. The govt needs to get rid of him before he spills the beans to Glenn Greenwald and it goes world-wide and before charges can be filed. They simply say he's working with the enemy. No due process. That's why this is a really dangerous action to take. Makes it too easy to do again when someone needs to end an embarrassing/illegal situation.

February 10, 201412 yr Kinda like Shooter Govt/military lies. Sometimes it's necessary. Sometimes it's a cover up (ie Pat Tillman situation). It's why I believe no American should be targeted. If they happen to be with other bad guys then that's different.
February 10, 201412 yr The U.S. has already assassinated a citizen via drone attack. And it is dangerous to us. The government is saying that it merely needs to accuse someone of a crime to circumvent constitutional processes. That is unlimited and arbitrary power.

So if our troops or special ops are not allowed to do a capture operation it would seem that we probably do not have permission to invade their airspace and launch an attack either. So how does SoS Kerry deal with this? Does anyone remember Col. Powers and the U2? What is different?

And knowingly killed minor and innocent US citizens.
February 10, 201412 yr My first inclination is that he made his bed, let him blow up in it. Then I also look at it like McPapa as a very slippery slope...but pretty much every decision is a slippery slope to some degree. At some point you have to trust that there are good people trying to do the right thing and let them do their job. I understand that this guy is a US citizen, but if he has taken up arms in battle against our citizens on foriegn I tend to lean on the take him out side.
