I respectfully disagree. Maybe at the playground the boys dont call ball but he was traveling. Maybe they Would have Let a couple slide if he didnt stare down the official on the first two.

 

The T seemed kind of weak but We dont know What was said. Kid needs to realize you are up 11 with 20 sec left just accept the call and walk away. Do not Say anything under your breath. Bolden is a special player but he may struggle at the next level with longer and just as quick defenders. I like his game but wish he Would use his fame in a more positive manner. I know a group of 7th grade Highlands boys where in the stands watching him closely with alot of respect. Kids hear about these good players and look up to them.

 

This may be an ignorant question, but here goes....Is it standard practice for each high school team to designate a "talking captain" whose role is known to the officials? If so, it should be simple enough for other players to walk away from these sorts of situations and let that captain initiate any discussion.

 

That being said -- and I am open to correction here -- I've been told by several players that certain officials simply do not enjoy being approached by players regardless of how much "yes, sir" or "no, sir" is employed. That does not excuse truly disrespectful player behavior, of course.

I imagine that some (bad) officials consider themselves above the fray.

Yea and I thought it was hilarious when Drew stopped his rhythm held the ball on his hip and told the guy to shutup. LOL Then drained both FT's. That bush lead crap goes on all the time.

 

Heck in the 7th grade Boys game today the Holmes coach was blurting out instructions just as the Bluebird players were shooting FT's. REal classy, explains why one of the kids on the team threw his jersey at him after halftime up 7 and quit the team.

Hill's T was indeed weak. Only thing he said to the ref was "watch the elbows" and the ref T'd him up. Booher was standing right there and thats why he was so upset about the call.

Not sure what was said. I do know that there was 35 seconds left in the game and even though Holmes was up 15 and Highlands had subbed in the JV players a minute and a half earlier, Hill was still in the game.

Just one of those February road nights for Holmes. Starters came out up 17 and Highlands hit a 3 and made three free throws to give you the final margin.

 

Highlands played well. Kept Holmes off the offensive glass and got good looks around the rim because of Buten's penetration.

 

Not sure about that Man, Booher had starters in until 1:20 left and it was only a 13 ph lead. Birds had emptied their bench 40 sec prior.

 

Bolden and Chames came out of the game at the 1:20 mark.

There is no rule that says a player cannot talk to an official. It's HOW you talk to an official. Note: I wasn't at this game so I have no clue whether the T was warranted or not. Officials are human. Some put up with more than others.

Yea I dont know but it seemed that the referee said something to Booher in regards to what Hill said to him and then I heard Booher get heated and say that he was a Capt and he was allowed to talk to him.

 

Regardless, things got chippy and Hill ran his mouth walking away and the referee wanted to make a point with 30 sec left. Its a shame they didnt set the tone earlier when Booher was berating Pompilio and Bolden was glaring at Perry Wing 2 times in a row. I thought overall it was a well officiated game though.

Last year's JV team actually included even more (then) juniors than this year's; I know Herndon, Glover, Bell, Hill, and Pouncy all played some 2012-13 JV, and I think at one point Housely did as well. (Walter? Help me out here....) If there is any downside to Holmes' depth, it's the number of good players that wait in line. But they seem to handle it pretty well and it's a pretty nice problem to have, right?

When did he hurt his ankle? Sat the entire second half of the JV game and didn't play any varsity minutes last night. Nothing serious as far as I know, but was just wondering when it happened.
