I love the Olympics...except for some of the events

Featured Replies

I love watching the Olympics. I love seeing the worlds best athletes in their chosen fields pererform better than the rest of the best.

I love the competition and love the pride rooting for your country gives me.

What I can't stand are the events that are judged.

Ice Skating for example is so rigged its so frustrating to watch sometimes. Same as gymnastics in the summer games.

What are your pet peeves in the olympics?

2 man luge...just seems unnatural...not that there is anything wrong with that

I also hate that Ski Jumping has judges...should be the guy/gal that jumps the furthest wins

I love gymnastics but I'm with you on the ice skating. Just don't enjoy watching it.

Anything with a judge I don't like. All others that have scores or timed, I can get into. I really like watching those sports you never see until the Olympics. The mind boggling ones are the ones with hundredths of seconds between 1st and 8th place, like bobsledding. The focus of those athletes has to be over the top.

I love ski jumping, but I don't understand why they have judges, just let them jump and measure it

Lot's of events have judges/scoring.

I love almost all of the skiing events. Some are based purely on speed or distance. Others, like the super pipe and half pipe are two of the most creative of the events. They're not based on speed. They're based on complexity.

Forty years ago I would have thought that "super pipe" referred to an overgrown bong.

I never was crazy about individual figure skating. The pairs I will watch.

And is there ANYTHING on Earth more snooze-inducing than compulsory figures?

I'd rather read Joker's textbooks.

Not a big biathlon fan.

I respect the biathlon and why it is an Olympic sport, but dang is it boring.

Without question, women's curling is the best Winter Olympic event.

Just for you---Hellbird. New this year is TEAM Ice Skating. :lol2:

Honestly---I do enjoy all of it. Even those events that I don't understand. To me, the Olympics are a refreshing break from regular sports that we watch every day. I also love learning about all the cultures and countries.

I'm just weird that way.

I enjoy most of it. I'm can't get into figure skating at all but I always hope Americans win and other countries fall or get disqualified.
