2014 Jack Kaelin NKY Freshman Invitational Tourney

Cooper looked much stronger earlier in the year when Hendrix was playing. He must only be jv now.

.

Hendrix played well today for Cooper's JV.

He's not Larry's grandson.

Clyde really?:ohbrother: But he is the Grandson of Jerry who I graduated with at CovCath and who sat about two seat behind me for four years years in Home Room! JJ took his Dad to the CovCath Vs. NCC Frosh game and Jerry and I reminisced for a bit before I had to leave for a CovCath Varsity game!

Larry graduated I believe in 1969 with my Brother Class and played Basketball at CovCath.

2nd round games in The Jack Kaelin Freshmen Regional Tournament

Simon Kenton

Vs. 2-10-14 6pm

Boone County

Ryle

Vs 2-10-14 7:30

CovCath

Holmes

Vs. 2-12-14 6pm

Cooper

Newport Central Catholic

Vs. 2-12-14 7:30pm

Dixie

These quarterfinal games on paper look like much better games than the opening round. The highlight game would seem to be Ryle Cov Cath. Will Cheeseman play? Will Angel have to set for a team enforced suspension due to the technical? Either one of these scenarios could effect the outcome of the game.

All in all there should be some good basketball played this week.

Thanks for all the updates thru the day.

Games played out as I predicted except the last one. Looks like Dixie took it to Conner in the 4th qtr and wins the game. Thought Conner was one of the stronger teams I had seen earlier in the year. Congrats to Dixie on the win.

A few other things of note. Ryle...no Cheesman, I take it he is injured. CCH...no Angel. NCC...no Wurtz.

Cooper looked much stronger earlier in the year when Hendrix was playing. He must only be jv now.

Greene for Holmes looks like he will be a player. Tall and athletic. Engelmon, and Commodore also looked good for Holmes.

Nice seeing all of the jv/varsity players and coaches for St.Henry there supporting the freshmen team.

Good luck to the remaining teams in the "elite 8".

Related to Petey Greene and "Herky" White. Kid has some nice basketball bloodlines. He plays JV regularly and has been in a few times for varsity games in blowouts. He will be a very good player. The Commodore kid that's an 8th grader is who has me most excited. Younger brother of Chris Englemon. I've heard he will be a long, big point guard that will be tough for teams to handle. My future uncle in law has coached against him in AAU for years and said he is the real deal. Not as good of a ball handler as Bolden at the same age, but scores just as well and just as quick.

Wish Hunter Meyer of Dixie was playing down. Interested to see how good they'd be with him. He is one of the leading scorers for the JV team as a frosh.

Round 2, I'll go with:

SK over Boone

CCH over Ryle

Holmes over Cooper

NCC over Dixie

If all the freshman were playing in this tournament I'd probably put Simon Kenton in a final with Cooper.

I know little about frosh ball, but is

SK + Racke > CCH + Von Handorf ???????

My fault. Thought you graduated with Larry.

It would be a very good game.

But it would be SK + Racke,Hawkins, and Cottrell vs CCH +VonHandorf

Cooper would have both Hendrix and McNeil who are not on the Frosh team.

A few other kids that are freshman who are not playing on freshman teams:

Conner ...Hemmerich (and someone else I'm forgetting)

Lloyd... Townsend (who starts at pg for varsity)

Dixie..Myers

I know little about frosh ball, but is

SK + Racke > CCH + Von Handorf ???????

CCH by 10 with that format in my opinion.

TOG, thanks for the latest updates.

Cheeseman for Ryle would of made this game interesting with CCH. He looked real good the couple times I saw him this year. Must be injured.

Who won the Frosh Tourney the last 3 years? Just curious as to how things are playing out at the Varsity level.
