The Pittsburgh Pythons are the worst team in the NBA. Most of the players think the reason why they are in the cellar is because Moses Guthrie who they feel is monopolizing the spotlight. So when they walk out, the towel boy, Tyronne decides to consult with an astrologist, Mona. They in turn decide to hold open tryouts and they only select players who are born under the same zodiac sign as Guthrie, Pisces. And what they get are some weirdos but they play together, they are phenomenal. When they start winning the owner decides to rename the team the Pisces.

 

Worth a rental fee for sure!

While I am no fan of Indiana, Hoosiers is the best high school basketball movie I have ever seen. Coach Carter is probably #2.

 

A logical question at this point, should Space Jam be on the list?

I would have to say Coach Carter and then Hoosiers

You can't beat Hoosiers! But, why have more people not mentioned The Pistol (The Birth of a Legend). This is the movie about Pete Maravich. It focuses a lot on his childhood and highschool. There is one scene where he challenges someone in a spinning the ball on the finger and he ends up doing it for several hours. Has no one seen this movie?

Hoosiers took me all the way back to the Falmouth High School gym in my mind! This movie stands alone as the best!!!

Hoosiers is my favorite. Does any one remember one (70's) With Robbie Benson. The college coach really had it out for him. From what I remember its the worst.

 

 

The movie with Robbie Benson and Annette O Tolle was ONE ON ONE!

1. Hoosiers-maybe we could call it Cuba or Paintsville

2. One on One-Robbie Benson/Annette O'Toole

3. Blue Chip-oscar material for Shaq

4. Fastbreak-Gabe Kaplan...what a coach!, Bernard King, and the chick with the ace bandage (Swish) Lots of social issues in this movie but it's a good one

 

How about the 70's basketball show the "White Shadow"

No doubt in my mind that Hoosiers is tops - I still watch it every year before the season starts and read the book "Season on the Brink" just to get back into hoops mode.

 

I too think that One on One is right up there with the best - it would still fit in today. Unfortunately, I lent it to one of my players a couple of years back and I never got it back.

 

I coached during the "White Shadow" era - my kids called me the "Fat Shadow."

Since my wife is from Milan I have to say Hoosiers.

Robbie Benson - pound for pound- one of the best actors America has ever known!!! I loved that Ice Castles movie!!!!! We need a Benson return in a big way! :lol:

What about Above the Rim??? Good flick and one of Tupac's finer acting roles!!

Some thoughts on the movie::

1) That kid from Remember the Titans was one heck of a "thug". How did we ever buy that he was a HSchooler in Titans?? :confused:

2)Jesus, from the Madonna video, sure can hoop. :thumb:
