Randle is a monster. Wow. WCS went awol. Horrible officiating. That's my takeaway. Cats will continue to improve. Would not want to play them come March.

What a tough game to lose for the Cats, (understatement of the year so far). I am overall pleased with the way that this team battled, competed on every possession with Arkansas, I believe in and feel good about the remainder of the season after watching this effort and desire.

I have been on bgp now for a number of years and I don't think that I have ever blamed anyone's loss on the officials and in fact I have defended them on many occasions. I do have to say that tonight is as close to blaming the officials as I ever have. Not so much that they stole a game from U.K., they didn't. What my complaint is that after calling the game what imo was far to close for around 37 minutes or so that the final 3 minutes was a complete reversal, they completely swallowed their whistle and were letting "muggings" go. Randle was getting hammered on every possession without a call. One foul that they did call, I counted three blatant fouls on Ark. before they called the fourth one, sending J.R. to the line. This letting calls go that were called the entire game went both ways but in jmo hurt the Cats far more than Arkansas. All that anyone can really ask of an officiating crew is to be consistent and this crew was..... until the final three minutes and the overtime,

Yes, someone forgot and just didn't block out on he final score/dunk but when looking at a game like this one there were many "what if's" that would have won the game.....what if U.K. had made three more FT's, Hit one more shot, three pointer or not have turned the ball over as many times ?? There are far too many of those to blame a loss on one player not boxing out at the final horn. JMO.

Incredibly talented, but as basketball savvy as a thumb tack. They are getting by alone on talent. What does that make now, all 4 losses by a combined 16 points? You can tell they have prime time players that make plays in big moments.

 

I'm not going to lose it too much on missing the final block out. Seldom do you see anyone block out, especially on a buzzer beater. How that game ended is not going to define this team.

Honestly though I don't know how many people box out on a last shot. A dumb mistake but I feel like it's very common

 

This will be a hug teaching tool for Cal. Young admitted in the post game that on that play he just did not play. Something that Cal has been preaching all season. Alot we can take away from this game and I think positive and we can build on. Sometimes a loss like this is what the team needs to elevate their game....we will see.

Young said it was his fault. This is what Julius had to say about not blocking out. One of the reason I like Julius so much.

The officiating this year has made it almost unbearable to watch a game.

 

Coach Cal, I don't want to hear about how the free throw shooting on this team is fine. Your entire career your teams have been plagued by horrible FT shooting. you just shoot 65% last night, your team wins.

 

It's old, but last night the officiating was so bad I was left speechless.

I am guessing the winners were able to overcome the bad officiating, while the losers could not.

I'm not giving up hope on the season yet, look at Brandon Knight's year. But, I don't know how much longer I can keep the faith of a title run with all these dumb mistakes.

 

Really makes me appreciate that 2012 team a little more. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd watch that title game again and go to bed happy. Oh well, it will feel good to watch them hopefully bounce back on Saturday. I'm out.

 

Sorry MJ, but this team has zero chance at a title run. Dumbest UK team I've seen in years, like I've said for the past month and a half or so, this team reminds me so much like last year's it's scary.

I'm not seeing the improvement that others are seeing with this team, but I have been impressed with Alex Poythress. He was outstanding tonight & I love seeing him attack the basket with ferocity.

 

Outside of Poythress, I've seen nothing that indicates this team has made the slightest of improvements.
