Soooo … this Chris Christie guy

This ordeal also reminds of my annoyance with how any potential political scandal gets immediately compared to the Watergate break-in, complete with the "-gate" suffix.

I think Christie's biggest problem here is when he had the press conference the other day, he said he was blind sided a couple days before when the "found out about it". Now they've got emails from mid-December from Christie to the NY attorney general asking him to back off the investigation. I also read something about how ambulances were backed up from getting to the hospital and a patient or two died. I'm not sure how much it's going to blow up, but you know the Dems are going to chip away at him until 2016.

Not sure what Christies saying he didn't know about his aides involvement has to do with asking the AG to back off.

Someone said that this hurts Christie's Credibility, really? Does any politician really have a lot of credibility anymore?

FWIW I AM NOT a Chris Christie fan!

Sure did fall back in it, didn't he? I keep getting this image of Willie Stark, only a little more amateurish in his tactics.

I hope he keeps falling back. I never liked him.

He reminds me too much of Obama, he is a publicity hound, so every scandle they uncover the better as far as I'm concerned.

I would think Obama had more to do with winning in 08 and 12 than the GOP candidates. Obama is very articulate and has a charm about him that many Americans were attracted to even if their political ideology would put them closer to McCain or Romney. Didn't one of the news agencies state that from political opinion polls that more voters actually lined up with Romney than Obama but Obama was just the "sexier" candidate who won?

Some call this low information voting where people vote on things completely unrelated to the political issues but rather focus on the candidates looks or their charm etc..

Don't forget "Athletic" also!

Disagree. GOP in '08 and '12 went with "safe, electable" candidates and got 8 years of Obama. I think more GOP voters in '16 will vote their ideology instead of letting polls influence their choice.
Yes. Which is why they will vote for a candidate that isn't way out on the far outer space reaches of the right wing. They'll go for someone electable -- someone closer to the center of American beliefs.

"Bridgegate" brings to mind Monicagate, Billygate (Libyan deal involving Carter's brother) and Nipplegate at the Super Bowl halftime show.

The roster of centrist Republican office-holders grows smaller every year.

You want to know why I think he won those 2 elections? It had more to do with the media than anything else. I believe he won because the media and the people involved in the media etc. wanted to be a part of history so they pushed their agenda in wanting to be a part of history where the first black president is elected. That alone meant more than anything else to the talking heads who so badly wanted to be a part of history that they let everything else that mattered such as policy etc. fall to the wayside.

And in 2016 they will likely get to do it all over again the first woman president - "What does it matter" Hillary.

Bingo!!!!

You are 100% correct.

That is why I wish Condeleza Rice would run.

Your theory, if true, would hold that "the media" has the ability to sway millions of voters. I don't buy that.

The reason Obama won is (a) because of changing demographics and (b) because the GOP has failed to reach out to minorities by continuing to adhere to its "small-tent" philosophy. The fact that McCain and Romney were bland candidates also was a factor.

That explanation makes sense for his 08 victory but not his 12 victory. I think that goes back to, Obama marketed himself much better than Romney. While I think Romney did a good job with being Gov of Mass. and other endeavors he was involved with, he was just not an exciting guy so the low information voters went back with Obama even if their political views actually matched up closer to Obama.
