Newport Catholic/Holmes at The Bank of Kentucky Center????

Walter can fit a LOT of people in his car (judging from the number of players he drove around this summer)... so if anyone wants to skip a parking fee just sign up below for Walter's limo service:

I wouldn't want to ride with Walter if Holmes loses. That could get scary.

Now that I am more involved with ALL teams, I honestly don't "root" for any particular team. Obviously I follow Holmes very closely, but I try to get as many teams and kids as much exposure as I can...hence Ennam's comment about my work throughout the summer to help these NKY kids get better.

Whoever is in charge of parking at BOKC/NKU is not very good at it. They are so bad in fact that it is good for my health, as I park on Highland Heights city streets and choose to walk.

Big night of games set for Feb. 14 at BOKC

A simple idea by Newport Central Catholic athletic director Rob Detzel to move his school’s home boys’ basketball game against Holmes on Feb. 14 to Northern Kentucky University’s The Bank of Kentucky Center to accommodate a large crowd and avoid possible issues with the playing floor has now morphed into a doubleheader featuring the top four-rated teams in the Ninth Region, three of which are rated among the top six in the state.

The Bank of Kentucky Center officials announced in a press release Friday afternoon that Covington Catholic will face Dixie Heights in the first game of the doubleheader at 6:30 p.m. followed by the NewCath/Holmes game. CovCath is giving up a home game with Dixie that night to play in the doubleheader.

Covington Catholic is the No. 1 team in the Ninth Region according to the most recent Louisville Courier-Journal Litkenhous Ratings and No. 3 team in the state, while NewCath is No. 2 in the region and No. 5 in the state, Holmes is No. 3 in the region and No. 6 in the state and Dixie is No. 4 in the region.

Matt Merchant, who is The Bank of Kentucky Center Marketing Manager, said tickets for the doubleheader will be priced at $7 for adults and $4 for students and parking will be $4.

“It has a chance to be a special night of basketball,” Detzel said. “To get the top four teams in the region in one place the same night in the regular season should make it a great ticket.”

Come on, holmes (pun fully intended). You graduated from Holmes. You LOVE Holmes. Don't apologize for rooting for them. It's not like you're a journalist who has to be objective. Be a proud Dog.

We are revoking Walter's Dawg Tags for his comment.

He was just giving impartiality a whirl to see what it tasted like, and I can respect him for that.

I must admit I was initially shocked, but then my reality filters kicked in telling me not to buy it.

And true, he needs not to make any apologies for it. I'd personally be disappointed in him if he ever swayed from being a solid Bulldog supporter.

My filters tell me I've nothing to worry about there, and just like the sign in their gymnasium says. (paraphrasing)... "Once you're a Bulldog, you're a Bulldog for life".

I just bet that he could tell us word for word exactly what that sign says.

Go Wally Dawg!!! ... you stay solid and proud. :ylsuper:

They get 3,500 people in the BOK and when it comes time to leave you think you are at the Sprint race at the KY speedway.

I am told by Rob Detzel that there will be no broadcasts from the BOKC for this event.

Oh no not this again.....

I don't openly root for any team when I'm at a game. That is what I was saying in my post.

I am just as involved with other NKY coaches/players as I am the Bulldogs.

Hell, I spent more time around Covcath and Dixie over the summer than I did Holmes. Ennam and TOG can both vouch for me there.

No video broadcasts...not sure about radio broadcasts.

Can't vouch for Walter at Dixie but he was at CovCath so much so this summer, that I noticed Walter wearing Blue a lot!
