Newport Catholic/Holmes at The Bank of Kentucky Center????

Featured Replies

Am I the only one who's noticed that the possibility of these games being played at the BOK have gone from promising, to not promising, to promising, to not promising, to promising?

I'm getting dizzy and whiplash from the roller coaster ride.

What next... can't imagine. :idunno:

Unless BOK is way out of line financially NCC will play their game there.

The only other question is can both CCH and NCC be satisfied financially? If so, we'll have a DH.

I'd say 3k to 4k fans would be best case for the DH.

On a serious note, that word can offend people. No reason to use it.

If you are looking for "political correctness" out of me.......not happenin', it was not meant to offend.

Not looking for "political correctness, but what is wrong with saying stupid?

Valid discussion. Wrong thread.

This is the thread where it took place. And I agree wholeheartedly with Sportsfan... and its not "political correctness," its just being a decent human being... which, having met Lawnboy a couple of times I know he is... I don't think he meant wrong by it, but having a few friends with children with down syndrome it is a polarizing term.

Crushes the atmosphere. I think Regents could be cool.

If you could get the crowd that you had at the Holmes Vs. CovCath and the CovCath Vs. NCC games, then 5,000 would not be out of the question, at least to me! Heck if you could move the game to Saturday night, and have Holmes vs. NCC and CovCath vs. Moeller you might even have a bigger crowd but I highly doubt if Moeller would give up a home game to play on a neutral site in Northern Kentucky!

The two gyms combined hold about 2500. 2500 extra on a Friday where other teams are playing AND it is Valentine's Day make it difficult to get a lot of extra fans.

One thing to consider................It is now less than a month away and one thing BOKC is not very good at is last minute events. Unless this is already in the works I doubt it will happen. They have events on 2/13, 2/15 and 2/16 already scheduled and they sometimes struggle getting workers if they have last minute events surrounded by already scheduled events. Just food for thought with BOKC. Hopefully this is something that is being worked on now.

The three events (which means no floor changeover IF they had it on the 14th) is Women's basketball on the 13th and 15th with the RiverMonsters Arena football on the 16th.

Retarded: slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress.

Not all usages of the word necessarily, although sometimes offensive, have to be, or is in reference to persons with learning disabilities etc.

Yes it's true that sometime it can be, and many can mistakenly view it as such, but obviously in Lawnboy13's usage of it, it was not.

Yes it was used in slang form of sorts in reference to the NCAA and its rules, but in Lawnboy13's choice of a one word description of his opinion of the NCAA, it's not entirely a misusage of the word, as it could legitimately apply if he's recognizing inadequacies within the NCAA's shortsightedness and misguidedness, and his rendering of that as: slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress.

Perhaps it's not the perfect descriptive word in this case, but certainly many here understood where he was coming from, and know that he was nowhere near using it in an effort to offend anyone.

Retarded can apply offensively to an individual, but it is also possible to use it in the way Lawnboy13 has without being subjected to a public hanging.

It's sorta like all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs.

A thumb is a finger???

Learned something new today on BGP.

They are meeting today. Probably won't take long to decide. NCC will say "guarantee us $X" and then BOK can determine if they can do it or not.
