Newport Catholic/Holmes at The Bank of Kentucky Center????

Featured Replies

If you all remember, the Bank of Kentucky Center (prior to it being built and naming it) was sold to the community as a community event center, where HS games and such could be played and it was not intended to be built solely for NKU! Yes, NKU was to be the biggest user but the politicians clearly stated that it was to be used by the community at large as much as NKU as long as NKU had the date clear!

Glad to see more community events starting to be held there, and it would be neat to see the All "A" along with the Girls KHSAA sweet sixteen play at the BOKC!

Strictly hypothetical though, correct?

Of course. :D

I agree that it would be nice for more community events to take place there but I also understand that being an NCAA facility means that NCAA rules must be adhered to.

Any coach with a coaches pass can attend any game. It makes perfect sense. Speaking in hypotheticals say for instance you are the assistant softball coach at NCC you are entitled to take in the HHS vs University Christian foootball game or the HHS vs. Cov. Cath game or even the Holmes vs. Cov. Cath basketball game.

Again just speaking in hypotheticals. :D

 Excellent play.

Just spit my drink all over the computer at the library. I've advised the staff here to send the bill to Highlands, Attn: oldbird. :lol2:

Spoke to one of the coaches involved who said he'd be in favor of making this a double header at BOKC every year.

CCH/Dixie and Holmes/Newcath is usually played around the same time every year. If the coaches get together when making their schedules, it would be a great annual event. Hell, as stated earlier, move the games to Sat and try to make it a triple header. Maybe add Campbell Co v Brossart since it is guaranteed to draw a huge crowd regardless of the talent level of the two teams.

Excellent call Walter. We need to get Skinny on this, he can get this accomplished. :thumb:

Well said B-Ball, you are hired as my public relations director.

It's about time you got one of those!

Tickets $7 adults/$4 students

Parking is $4

Or free is you bought one of those lovely $220 passes...

Could the schools have opted to buy out the parking fees as well? The 10th region All A being hosted at NKU elected to do so. They offer a flat rate that covers parking for the night of the event. They did the same when the soccer state secionals were held at NKU's soccer field.

Is the A at BOK or Regents?

The A is at Regents, the Soccer sectionals were on the soccer field that sits in front of the Bank.

There's your difference. NKU controls Regents. They do not control BOK.

Sounds like NKU controls parking though?

Could they have asked NKU for the buyout? Or if there is event at BOK does BOK have it in the contract from NKU they get the parking?

Possibly. If the parking was "covered" it would either come out of the schools' cuts OR BOK's. I don't see either happening.

From what I understand waiving parking fee was discussed, but not sure logistics of who would take the hit on cost difference. I know NewCath is planning on selling $3 advance sale tickets for students and would assume the rest would, too, but don't know. So it would cost dad and mom and two students $24 including parking to attend the games. Roughly $10 more than a regular-season home (single) game (although in some cases season tickets have been purchased). That's a pretty good deal for those two games in my opinion.
