First off, it was great meeting for the first time several of the regular posters on here. Unfortunately in a setting like this you don't get a chance to converse a lot and really get to know one another, but hopefully that will come with one of the get togethers.

I'm glad I made the trip up. Unfortunately we had a game cancelled which is why I had the night open, but if I can't be coaching, then 2nd best thing is watching some good basketball. here is what I took away from the game.

1. I love me some Ruthsatz at pg. That's the kind of kid I want leading my team. Tough, smart, driven. You want Ruthsatz with that? Yes please.

2. CCH played very very good team basketball and played very smart.

3. That CVH kid is sweet and has a very bright future. If I didn't know better, no way would I have guessed he was just a freshman.

4. Bolden in very talented and has a great release on his 3. With that said, at least 2 or 3 of his 3's just shouldn't have gone in as off balance and out of position as he was when he shot the ball. I know he can hit those as he showed last night, but as a coach I would hate to have to depend on him hitting shots like that every game, or at least in big games. I just have to think some nights they just aren't going to fall. Then what?

5. Chames was a beast on the boards and it sure seemed like he had more than 11 rebounds. He kept this game close with his work on the boards.

6. I was not impressed with Holmes' defensive effort. This will have to get better than what I saw last night if they want to win region.

7. As someone mentioned above, a lot of standing around waiting for Bolden to do something. Somebodys gonna have to take the initiative and step up. I saw several times, while Bolden was being face guarded, the ballhandler could have exploited and attacked on Bolden's side, help defense would have been non existent because of the tight face guarding and something positive for Holmes probably could/would have happened.

8. CCH travels well and there were probably as many CCH fans there as Holmes fans. Holmes student section???

9. Boher knows how to coach and I'm sure he will learn from last night and fix it.

10. Wish I could be there Friday night, but won't be able to make it unfortunately.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw he only had 11. If you would have said he had 20 i would have bet money you were right.

CCH was very impressive. Going into the game I was curious to see how CCH had adjusted to the graduation of Frederick and Pauley. They have seemed to have filled it well and they are deep. They did a nice job of beating Holmes down the floor in transition that led to easy scoring opportunities.

Holmes for the first time this year that I have seen them play showed that they haven't quite filled to void of the graduated senior trio of Coston, Palmer and Englemon. They miss the scoring threats of Palmer and Coston and miss Englemon's toughness inside.

Bolden has got to look to distribute a little more and trust he teammates by passing the ball. He has an uncanny knack of making difficult shots but making an extra pass would and could open a few more lanes for him.

Are the districts at CCH this year or are they going to move it to another venue?

Recipe to beat CCH... pound it inside. Period. They are very thin inside and their 2 starting bigs are very prone to foul trouble.

Before anyone thinks Holmes had an off night: they didn't They put up 77 points. CCH eviscerated their D.

Not sure what eviscerated means, but in scoring 87 it sounds like something I hope my team can do to opposing defenses LOL!

Holmes has no one to throw it into. Chames doesn't score out of the ball coming into the post. He scores off of offensive boards (a monster!) and drive-and-dish.

Secondly, not many teams have post guys you can run offense through. Unfortunately for CCH, NCC does so it will be interesting.

Lastly, you help your post guys that have to guard strong post players by making life your guards making life extremely uncomfortable on the perimeter. CCH can do that.

Based on Walter's video, CVH had 25. I've seen both 23 and 25. Looks like Ruthsatz had 19. I had him with 6 buckets with 1 being a 3 plus 6 FTs. He's listed with 21.

Didn't make it to the game so thanks to everyone for the comments. The highlights helped as well. I will be there early Friday. Should be another good one for both teams.

Travis Steele (Xavier) and Erik Martin (West Va) were both in attendance to watch Bolden.

I saw Eric Martin but didn't see Travis. You sure he was there?
