January 12, 201412 yr I have never been a Braves fan, so I'm not biased. It's nuts to me. How on earth does anybody not vote for Maddox and Glavine?
January 12, 201412 yr I think this is more outrageous than LeBatard's protest. And it affirms his reasoning for doing it; the voting process is silly. I'm assuming this guy wants some publicity and a few extra clicks on his articles. I'll be making a note to make sure I never give him any page views. Just dumb.
January 24, 201412 yr Maddux is going in with a blank cap. I'm a bit bummed. Thought that was bizarre. I only remembered him as a Brave. Looked it up and I was a little off. I guess it makes more sense now. All told, Maddux threw 2526 2/3 innings for the Braves and 2016 for the Cubs... Greg Maddux will not go into the Hall of Fame as an Atlanta Brave | For The Win
January 24, 201412 yr When did the HOF allow players to decide? I remember years ago listening to an interview where it was said the HOF decided. They didn't want a "Wade Boggs/Tampa" situation where a player was paid to go in for a certain team.

January 24, 201412 yr Looks like the HOF has final say: The Hall solicited input from each honoree as to the cap choice. “The Museum staff works with each inductee by suggesting an appropriate logo option, or no logo at all,” said Hall of Fame president Jeff Idelson. “For those whose careers were built significantly among multiple teams, not having a team logo is equally acceptable.” Past cap decisions, such as those for Gary Carter (who went in as an Expo, though he would have preferred the Mets) and Wade Boggs (who went in with a Boston hat but had to deny rumors that he had agreed to wear the cap of the Devil Rays, for whom he played the last two seasons of his career) created controversy. After the Boggs episode, the Hall re-asserted that it had final say. In the end, though, what matters is the player on the plaque, not the cap that he’s wearing. January 25, 201412 yr How is Biggio not in the HOF? I've posted on here many times over the years that I would not vote for him. "Very good" - not "elite."
January 25, 201412 yr I've posted on here many times over the years that I would not vote for him. "Very good" - not "elite." 3,000 hits not elite?
January 25, 201412 yr 3,000 hits not elite? Biggio was really good compared to his contemporaries. He was never considered one of the best players during his time. Take the overwhelming majority of people to list the top 10 players every season of Biggio's career and he would not make the cut or he would be on the tail end of people's lists most seasons. That is confirmed by his highest MVP voting being 4th one season. I just can't see a guy being regarded as an all time great when it is arguable he wasn't considered a great player during his own time.
