what position do they usually play?

Pettigrew=3/4

Coleman=5

Proffit =1

Anderson=2

Beckham=1,2,3

:thumb: Thanks guys for helping me get Preston some air time..I have known this for 2 years now...he has started for GRC since his Freshman year, and has not gotten much publicity. If you have ever seen him play , you to will walk away impressed. Very athletic and quick, and also ranks at making a high % of his shots.

And he's got hops.

Has he been able to control his off court behavior? I know there was some talk of him not being able to play at the first of the year over a fight or something.

Hester could make an argument but Elbert as top 5 in Kentucky?

Sorry sorry sorry...I misread and was thinking top 5 in NKY! But yes Hester would still be in the top 5 in my vote.

South Laurel could have two:

Ty Proffitt gets alot of credit, as he deserves it. However, Trey Smith has emerged as an essential asset to the Cards as well. I think he deserves mentioning, even if he isnt neccessarily one of the top 5 in the state.

If SL makes it to the sweet 16 and makes a deep run, you will be hearing alot about Trey Smith. Mark it down.

How can this conversation even happen without mentioning Todd Jacobs of CCH.

Top Five

Haddix of Scott Co.

Walls of Scott Co

Again - Clark County's Preston Knowles is probably the best junior in the state and a top 5 player over all - and you dont have him in your top 10?

Hammons is another solid junior. What a stroke when he is on. Like Smith, not a top 5 player, but another solid junior for South Laurel.

Trey's dad, GJ Smith (SL AD) is a former UK player and has to love seeing his son get a ring last year and a shot at another one this season.

I haven't seen him play. This is who I have seen.

Is he a point guard? Got any stats?

Freshman year played PG. Sophomore played 2G. Now he plays PG, 2G, and on the wing.

Don't have any stats here at home, but I know just a few weeks ago he was like 3rd in the state in FG%.

I'm not smart enough to comment on the statewide talent. However, in the 9th you've got 3:

Austin Hill, Todd Jacobs, and Duran Jefferson that would be legit candidates.

Preston is going to grow on people, if they see him play they will become a beliver. He should be one of the top player in the state next year but it wil probaly have alot to do with how far GRC goes this yrar in the tourney.

I haven't seen enough players to list a legit top five but Mike Hester would have to be pretty close. One of the quickest players I've seen, a 40% shooter from the arc, 80% from the line and over 4 steals per game. He's also one of the best finishers you'll ever see in a 5'9" body.
