He's obviously very talented. Seems like the other young man is as well.

I've been thinking this for two days now, and nobody else has said it so I will. Junior QB is about to announce his college choice. Hometown paper of one of his finalist names him first team all state in what can only be described as a surprise move. (Over the QB who is committed to the rival of the hometown team)

 

This is by no means a knock on the kid because he is very good, but you have to admit it was not expected. I would be less surprised to have seen four other names in that spot as I could make a better argument for each of them. Pick a preference on how you would rate them, this year stats, lifetime stats, wins, championships. Pick any one and I will give you a more logical choice.

Not saying you are wrong, I just think the only way to see the logic behind the results is to see which coaches actually voted. We already see a low number of coaches voted. Seeing who actually voted would go a long way towards finding the logic in the results of the voting.

Along with Fant and Harris (and many others), what a potent offense this would be. Looks like this kid starting to get the state-wide recognition he deserves.

That is correct. These type of awards are nothing more than 2 things. 1 the coaches that voted voting in their own guys most of the time and 2 throwing in players considered pre season to be in running for major awards.

 

It's a shame for all coaches not participating in these because it's the kids who busted their butts for 12 years to get to the point where they finally deserve to be recognized for all the hard work and improvement they have made only to be left off because their coaches don't think its worth their time to nominate and vote.

 

It's a shame really. It's the same thing for ky vs Loisville all star teams and ky vs Tn all star teams.

 

These kids get no other chance of being recognized after all these years of playing the sport and to be left off soley due to the coaches not wanting to be bothered is a shame.

 

Again congrats to all those named and for those that deserved to be but weren't, you all are not forgotten by us at all. You all were great and will be remembered for your performances on Fri Nights.

The thing about is that the NKY folks don't realize there are more areas with "block votes" than their area. They just don't get that there is much more football in this state than in NKY. Venture outside their little realm of the world and they would figure this out.

I agree. There are a lot of teams and players outside NKY and that has never been an issue with me at all. As in my post it isn't just this all star team but all of the post season awards etc where players are ignored because all the coaches don't participate.

 

There is no way a coach from eastern, central or even western part of the state will know of NKY players because they haven't seen them. So if they don't go by stats which I think should be the biggest factor then they only vote for their own kids. The ones I blame are the coaches who don't participate.
