How is this relevant to non-HHS players making the list? You want to discredit their accomplishments because of one game on their schedule?

 

No. Just referring to the fact that these teams were referenced as being down this year. Usually having several good players on your team would indicate you are pretty solid as a team.

I don't put any stock into who beat whom when it comes to individual awards.

 

Why not? Should a kid that racks up huge numbers versus a weak schedule get the nod over a kid that plays a tough schedule? What do you look at for indivdual awards? I would be curious to hear that answer from anyone.

Who is to decide who played a tougher schedule? I'd argue that Warren Central played a tougher schedule than a Highlands.

My point is that because HHS played Elder tight or because HHS made the state championship I can't tell ANYTHING about an individual player. I have to see them. It's the very reason all-state awards/all-star awards always have to be understood that the voting is flawed.

His team has no stats on the KHSAA website and the team went 2-9. Does he make it solely because he kicked 13 field goals whereas other teams might not of even attempted that many. Did he kickoff as well, if so were they more often than not touchbacks? I thought that I read somewhere that Scott County had a pretty good kicker this year, but there is no mention of him anywhere.

Maybe if the other teams had him on their team they would have attempted more field goals since he seems to have a leg. He may have gotten more attempts if he was on a different team.

Not only that, but there are two first team guys from Warren Central and one each from John Hardin and Paducah Tilghman I believe. All three of which were defeated by the Birds.

 

I agree with many on here that NKY pretty much got hosed on these selections and not just from a Highlands perspective.

So all state selections should be based on a teams accomplishments.

• Why he’s on the team: Nuernberger is the first-team All-State kicker for the second straight year after making 13 of 20 field-goal tries. Five of the misses were blocked and the other two were from 54 and 56 yards. He also made a school-record 57-yarder against Ballard. He averaged 45 yards per punt.

 

Seems pretty deserving to me...

It's the coaches job to get their kids name out there, shame on them that didn't . I doubt there is some conspiracy against nay fb, maybe other coaches don't know who they are because no coach promoted them to other coaches.

How do you know he has a leg? Basing that on 13 field goals. Does he kickoff as well? If so, what was the percentage of touchbacks? There is more to a kicker than just how many field goals he made.

 

No one has tried to answer the question of where those 5 kickers that I posted ended up on the C-J all state teams. Not trying to bash on anyone here, just curious what others thoughts are considering these stats were easy to find.

Not saying that he is not deserving of the top honor. Not the purpose of my post at all. There are a few on the team that in my eyes are very questionable based upon stats gathered from the KHSAA website.

 

Again I picked the kickers because the stats were pretty easy to find except for the field goal and extra point accuracy.
