Yes. You just can't discount the millions of records he has sold. I think Bon Jovi is garbage. Most do not. But I can't say he's a horrible musician.

Not even close. I have never heard anyone put him on any top 10 or top 20 of all time list. How he can be most overrated is beyond me. If Kanye is overrated then Eminem is also. By your own words his first two albums were great and he's made crap since. Sounds like Eminem to me.

There's a lot of wealthy people out there, especially entertainers. Just because you can sell albums doesn't make you good, it just means people buy it. Big difference. I've never equated musical greatness with sales, not a good measuring stick IMO considering how many out there are clueless as to what good music is. How many of those sales are teenagers? How many are females? Again just because your rich doesn't automatically make you awesome. Sometimes it's the opposite, especially in Kanyes case. He thinks he is so awesome, but he's really not. Em also doesn't go around doing the things Kanye does. I say Kanye is overrated because of the way he acts. If you hear him speak it theres no rapper who has ever been better than him, he thinks he owns the game with his pal Jay-Z. Without Jay he would never have been what he is today, with him he sucks a little less but he's still not as good as he thinks he is in his own mind. He is overrated by his own standards. You can't call yourself Jesus and compare yourself to Biblical characters when you suck as bad as Kanye. Overrated IMO.

He's legit. To say otherwise is a simple case of not recognizing what he's done. That's really not debatable. Obviously there are people that don't like his style of music, just like anyone else. However, his record sales speak for themselves.

Again just because you sale records doesn't mean you are a good artist or musician, just means somehow people have bought it. There are fewer music aficionados out there than people who are relatively clueless about music. I'm sure Backstreet and NSYNC and all other boy and girl bands of time had record sales through the roof (likely more than Kanye) I guess that means they are the greatest bands of all time. Oh wait... they didn't play instruments? But they sold the records so man they must be awesome.

 

The record sales logic is the worst argument anyone can make about the quality of music IMO.

Which makes him a million times more overrated IMO. Who ranks themself as an artist or compares themselves to the greats? Real artists let others judge their quality, not politic for themselves. The fact that he thinks he is so good is what makes him overrated IMO, he is no where close to being what he thinks he is in his own mind.

 

He is also overrated in the sense of how many people think he is a good artist. Very overrated in that aspect and in terms of his production and musical quality.

Kayne's a much more accomplished Producer that Artist I MY OPINION, his 8 Studio Albums have only sold approximately 11 million in album sales. Many of his awards over the last several years have came from collaborations with other artist or producing other artist. Producing Kanye West production discography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has made him a ton of BANK over his career.

 

A little perspective Marshall Mathers LP alone sold 11 million copies. Eminen has sold 83 million total albums sold and Vanilla Ice to the Extreme sold over 7 million copies.
