This is my thoughts and response to Little Luck 55's post from the Chuck Smith thread.....While Jack Eicher was a HHS alum, he was hired from Scott County to coach the Birds. That didn't go so well either. For people who think that this is a slam dunk for Brian Weinrich, remember back in 1983 when HHS legend Bill Hermann retired and HHS went outside to hire Jack Eicher. It was in my opinion that it was Carl "Skip" Hicks job to lose and it indeed turned out that way. He was the master of some pretty good defenses 4 years prior to his departure to Beechwood.

 

Just saying people, it can happen. Likely it won't happen but nothing can be ruled out at this point. Ft Thomas Ind Schools Super Gene Kirchner will hire the best coach available! Period.....

You mean if Brian dosn't have success in his first 3-4 years (like Eicher)? At that point a guy like Chuck Smilth might be more desirable football wise to fix something that was broken; however, I think the "find me a low responsibility job in the system so I can coach football" attitude would still be problematic and a challenge.

I'm not sure it is accurate to suggest that is 100% Chuck's mentality. It may be and I can't confirm that. I only know what I have heard when it came to his job offers and what he was looking for. I cannot confirm that with 100% certainty. If he applied at Highlands and really wanted the job I'd think he'd do what was necessary to be the one to take over the program. Again, that is an assumption.
