December 5, 201312 yr Decision on Jameis Winston case to come Thursday From people in Tally that I know, unlikely he's charged. How do the people in "Tally" know what the DA will do?
December 5, 201312 yr My gut feeling has rarely wavered from thinking he wouldn't be charged. Guess I'll find out if the gut was right tomorrow.
December 5, 201312 yr Why call a press conference to not have a charge be brought against him? I dont think this looks good for Winston at all.
December 5, 201312 yr Why call a press conference to not have a charge be brought against him? I dont think this looks good for Winston at all. Most likely to go into detail as to why they aren't.
December 5, 201312 yr I'll say this: if he did it/is going to be charged - it was ballsy of them to request that they make their decision sooner rather than later. It had originally been stated that they would not make a decision until next week but Winston's attorney requested that if at all possible they bump it up. He would have at least played in the ACC Championship and possibly gotten FSU to the title game. If charged tomorrow, he sits.
December 5, 201312 yr Why call a press conference to not have a charge be brought against him? I dont think this looks good for Winston at all. I actually think the opposite. Why call a press conference to charge him? Maybe I am naive but if they know or strongly believe he is guilty why wait 24 hours to bring him on charges? Why wouldn't they just charge him and bring him in instead of letting a rapist walk around free? What if he raped someone else tonight? Wouldn't that be their fault for not bringing him in immediately? Again.....
December 5, 201312 yr Also, Winston's attorney has a press conference scheduled immediately afterward also and Winston is still scheduled to leave with the team for the ACC title game tomorrow evening. Just seems like if he was going to be charged then they'd just do it.

Unless they change the school policy at the last minute. I don't understand the delay in this situation. They either have enough evidence or they don't. Nothing new will turn up at this point so it is just all the way strange to me at this point.
December 5, 201312 yr From this article: Y! SPORTS Both Hobbs and another local defense attorney believe the calling of a press conference would be out of character for Meggs if he was planning on charging Winston. Meggs has been in office since 1985. "My experience with Meggs' office has been that unlike some jurisdictions, he doesn't like the dramatic press conference where it is announced that 'law enforcement is arresting the suspect right now,' " Hobbs told Yahoo Sports. "In almost 15 years of practice I have never seen him do that in a high-profile case." Speculation obviously, but perhaps some insight.
December 5, 201312 yr Author How do the people in "Tally" know what the DA will do? B/c I know people in Tally, who have vert good connections. Also, I've read enough and know enough about megs to know as PP and DF, press conferences aren't his style in charging. Of course he could take on a new approach but I don't see it.

December 5, 201312 yr My buddy been telling me it's gonna be a civil suit the entire time and he may be right. While good for FSU football I have never been a fan of civil suits. It's like they admit guilt IMO. If Winston is guilty I pray he is charged and suffers the consequences. If a civil suit takes place and he loses or settles then I'll never truly be able to enjoy this season like I hoped to.
