Did anyone else notice the prosecutor was wearing fsu colors at the press conference?

 

He's an FSU graduate.

 

I have no dog in this fight, but I find it funny that everybody suspects Willie Meggs of pandering to FSU and it's fans.

 

Meggs has made his reputation going after FSU players. He had more to do with the creation of the term Criminoles than anyone else. He, as much as anybody, had a hand in the fall of Bobby Bowden.

 

If anything, his prosecution of Travis Johnson, in a similar type of case, shows the lengths he'll go to when he thinks a player has crossed a line. Meggs lost that case, but the charges leveled prevented Johnson from leaving early for the NFL and collecting a healthy signing bonus when he did enter the draft later. Maybe that loss shy'd him away from prosecuting this one.

 

If you want to blame somebody for not doing their jobs properly, blame the Tallahassee PD.

Isn't Meggs position an elected position? His reputation of going after FSU players hasn't prevented him from being elected multiple times so obviously he is doing something right.

IMO, she drank too much, alcohol lowers inhibitions and standards and then she did something she wouldn't do sober. At some point she has to be accountable for her drinkings and actions. Every year, all across America, college guys and girls sleep with someone they regret the next day.

I wouldn't touch a drunk girl back in the day but then again I'm not a D1 player, she would get the benefit of doubt over me. I know guys who lost jobs over funny comments to girls back in the day, let alone making a move on a tipsy one.

According to TMZ, the witnesses said the girl willingly left the bar with Winston and went back to his apartment. The witness said that she wasn't drunk and that she was a 'more than willing' participant in the 'festivites' of the evening.

 

That may explain why her boyfriend didn't want to cooperate with the investigation.

Which explains why the prosecutor questioned her 'memory' of the events of that night and why he said hell naw to filing charges. There's no doubt in my mind at this point that if Meggs felt he could prosecute Winston that he would have done so quickly. She wasn't drunk or high, she willingly left the bar with Winston and her boyfriend at the time won't help her out?

 

The writing is on the wall.
