Shane Hall is way too high. Good athlete but I'd take Jackson Davis, Lamontray Harris, and Justin Johnson over him...and that is just big men. 10-15 would be a better range, IMO. Hell, I'd take Quinton Chames over him too.

 

Hall really needs to work on his defense as well as his footwork and post moves around the rim.

I think Dikembe Dixson is a little too high right now, as well. I'd probably move Goodin into the top 10.

I'd bump up Beetle and push Hall down a few spots. Otherwise, a pretty solid list.

 

Lots of the subjectivity in the rankings might depend on whether we're ranking kids as high school players or college prospects. If it's the former, you bump a kid like Trent Gilbert up more, while if it's the latter, you move kids like Ray Spalding up.

10-15 is a good spot for Ray, right now. Ask me in a year and he may be top 5 or even #1. Not a player in the state with more upside.

Totally agree...Hall isn't a top 20 player IMO. Hatton is too high and Goodin is too low.

It's a coaches poll so name recognition goes a long long way towards who gets votes. I'd guess that most of the coaches voting haven't seen all of these players but they have probably heard of them all.

Having a D1 scholarship doesn't make you a top 20 player in the state. Shane is a good player and has a senior season to move his way up the rankings. I'll be looking forward to watching him.

No mention of Carson Williams from Owen County. Already a D-1 scholarship offer as a sophomore.

I have a feeling that if you gave all the coaches a choice to choose a team with only 20 spots available, Shane would come off the board in that 20. I wholeheartedly disagree with the contention that he's not a top 20 player. I agree that he has holes in his game. I agree sometimes he's disconnected. But his upside is tremendous.

Aren't there any good players in western Kentucky. Other than Hopkinsville and Warren Central that part if the state is pretty much left out.
