Top 25 Players Regardless of Class

Featured Replies

I have a feeling that if you gave all the coaches a choice to choose a team with only 20 spots available, Shane would come off the board in that 20. I wholeheartedly disagree with the contention that he's not a top 20 player. I agree that he has holes in his game. I agree sometimes he's disconnected. But his upside is tremendous.

You're right, top 20 was too harsh. I'm going to say 10-20 range and I'll be looking forward to watching him this season to see how he has improved.

I like Austin Rentfrow at Marshall County too. Carson Williams is another good one.

I am a big Shane Hall fan but I agree he may be ranked a little high to start the season. Shane basically lost so much time last year because of a nagging injury. He is very athletic, a team player and has a tremendous upside. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but if he stays healthy this season I expect to see the real Shane Hall and some of his high rankings will be vindicated. With all this being said I believe he made a very good college decision which will work out for all involved.

Jordan Green is in a great position to put up big numbers at Henry Clay. Trey Grundy, Teddy Ware, and Christen Cunningham all transferred and the offense must go through him and Jeremiah Tisdale. When focused Green is hard to defend, he can take you off the dribble, has range on his shot, and is very athletic. Listed at 6-6 he is hard to guard both on tghe perimeter and in the paint.

I haven't seen Shane Hall play but I did notice he's averaging 16 and 10, he's headed to Marshall and it is known that he plays above the rim and yet he's not top 10 in the state? I'm confused. Are we putting unrealistic expectations on kids now? What would he need to do to validate his ranking of 5th? Averaging a double/double isn't enough?

Agree with all of this. He was always my favorite of the Henry Clay trio.

I've actually seen 18 of them in action and could not honestly rank them. They are all super basketball players and all should be able to play at the next level. Not a fan of ranking what you don't know. College coaches have a real hard job. I also agree a lot of the rankings have to do with hype, AAU, and location.

Congrats to these fine athletes for being mentioned. Good luck this year and stay healthy.

I need to see Drew McDonald play more but I have got to believe he is ranked a little low right now.

That's true. I will say this. It's a little easier to average a double-double in the 15th Region than say the 7th or 11th.

No doubt there. It makes me wonder if his game would elevate in those regions or regress.

I wish he would've been able to play some high-level AAU over the summer.

Walter, did you watch him over the weekend? How did he look?

I only see about 5-6 kids on the list that I would take before Brandon Hatton. There just aren't many that score like he does.

Note why I added the 2013-14 version. I don't believe we'll see the "real" Brandon Hatton at any point this season.

I was personally more impressed with Spalding. Shane really struggled against Ray's length and athleticism.

Shane did draw a lot of fouls but foot work around the rim HAS to improve. As I saw it, he was a very good athlete that was getting by on his size and not skill. When matched up against someone his own size (Ray Spalding), he struggled.

Hell of an athlete though. His put back dunk was nice.

He has some skill but again, I'm not sold on him being a top 10 player after seeing him Sat.

Sounds like we are on the same page. I'll be interested to see him soon.
