Disagree. No way it was a failure. Ended up as most rational fans expected.

Agreed 100%. Nick Saban isn't winning 5 games with that group.

And that's a wrap. This whole season has been about gaining experience and being able to hold onto their recruiting class. We knew it was going to be bad and it was, but that is what you get for hanging on to Joker Phillips an extra year.

Jalen got the bulk of the work at QB because Max can't move and the OL was bad.

In all with the exception of the Georgia game at times, I think they laid it on the line each week.

I just don't think the staff has any confidence in Towles reading defenses. I heard Lorenzen on a pregame show talking about how Towles coming out of Highlands is coming from a passing system where you simply throw it to a spot. No pretreat of the defense, you just heave it to a spot. He feels that the learning curve for Towles has been steep or more steep than other QB's that have come out of Highlands to D-1 schools.

I think the Phillips kid will give them a run a QB for next year. I thought he looked the best of all the QB's at the spring game, definitely threw the best ball.

Hang on to the recruiting class and finish it strong and go into next year looking to make some progress on offense.

It was an ugly season but I think most knew it would be.

Very well said. Can't add anything other than I hope that people are not expecting a major improvement W/L record next season. Going to take a lot of time imo just to be average.

Good luck to Drew if they throw him in the fire that fast.. I still remember Braxton saying he really wanted to redshirt his first year. He isn't gonna be in Hebron anymore.

Again, I'm not saying it should be Drew. Heck, as I've told him, I hope they redshirt him.

My point is that neither of these two from this year will be the starter.

Only thing I think was a failure on this team was offense. Maybe my expectations are to high. But really thought I would see more points based on scheme.

So what is everyone's thoughts about year 2 as what improvements you need to see to give this staff a passing grade?

I would just like to see the actual "System" ran on Offense. This was not it, and Stoops and Neil Brown know it too.

Many thought the o-line would be the strength of this team. It wasn't and it hampered the ability to pass downfield.

No way was the 0-line going to be the strength of the team this year. I saw them in spring practices and they were not very good. They lacked strength and size not a good combo for SEC play. The schedule is softened up for 2014 so there should be a few more wins out there.

With that Schedule I see 3 wins. That is based on what I know is returning. I am not big on thinking 1 recruiting class can make big enough impact on this team that would create to many more wins.

That and not having a quarterback on the roster.

On a bright note, they'll be off to their best start in years. :thumb:

Good news is Barker will be there for spring practice. So we will have a good idea on Towles and his status at the end of spring. I still see him transfering. Wouldn't be suprised if it didnt happen at the end of this semester.

I'm assuming you're counting Louisiana Monroe as the third win?

I absolutely admire this team and coaching staff for not quitting today.

I hate when this sentiment gets brought up.....these guys are paid high dollars to do a job....quit? Are you serious? And they're to commended for not quitting......where's Chris Rock?
