I find it interesting that people put Mayfield so low. I would go:

12. Williamsburg (and probably just fine with this and darn happy just to be on this list!)

Mayfield would get drilled by DeSales, Wayne and Meade, I think they would also lose to Pulaski, Belfry and NCC. Anyone putting them in the top 10 is either a fan or just looking at their past reputation. Some years I think they could compete for a title in 3 or 4 classes, but not this season. Mayfield will win 1A and get another ring, but get crazy thinking they are better than that.

I understand the top of your list (I can understand making a homer pick :lol2:) but no way is NCC the last team on this list?

 

You know by Picking Highlands 5th the Bluebirds will be coming after you, right?

I would take Mayfield's skill players and their offensive concept against all of those teams except DeSales. While all of those teams might be able to lean on Mayfield, I'll still take them to outscore all those teams, out athlete all those teams, and out "believe they can win" all those teams.

True Mayfield has a ton of 1A trophies and is one of the cornerstone programs in the state, but that has nothing to do with this season. You barely beat a PT team that got demolished by a team you think your better than, you got beat by a 2A team that didn't even win their own region...Mayfield historically is very strong but not this season...BTW other schools have skill athletes too!

Not trying to dog Mayfield at all, but it's a tough road for a class A program, no matter how good, to play four quarters against the numbers 5A, 6A, or even some of the larger 4As have.

It would be a rare year that an outsatnding 1A or 2A could beat the best in 5A or 6A. Not impossible, but rare. Just a case of raw numbers. DeSales appears to be the closest of the remaining to do that. They did beat JH.

And thumped CAL in their rematch after CAL hung with Male.

Mayfield is steady this year as usual but this team is not as talented as their recent 2010 or 12 teams and they are not 1. This team did best McCracken Co. As for the PT close win, it was a rival game, PT only made it close at the end as it was generally a 21 point lead with Mayfield just running clock because they couldn't stop it.

As for NCC they get my 11th spot for now.

I am a Mayfield fan, I would put them 7,8, or 9. 100% ahead of NCC , Williamsburg

Mayfield is consistently ranked too low in these types of lists. As a Beechwood fan, I have seen both New Cath and Mayfield up close for the past few years and I can't think of one New Cath team that would have beaten a Mayfield team in that season.

Meade Co is the 1 team on here that, imo, could fall anywhere from 3 to 10. There 2 losses to Male and J.Hardin were to 2 very good teams, so, I don't take much away from them for those, despite the lopsided loss to Male. Even though the Butler score was close at the end, they were crushing them 28-0 at the half and seemed to just coast the rest of the way. This Butler team was no slouch. Beating a very strong C.Hardin team twice, going away I might add, is impressive. CH defeated Collins, McCracken, B.East, so, there resume was solid. Obviously, Meade is peeking right now and although they've flown under the radar much of the year, they're a team I wouldn't want to play right now. Scott Co certainly doesn't need to think that last weeks game was the championship game or they'll go home with there tail between there legs.
