November 26, 201312 yr The old plantman mobile is in need of new tires again, before I go my usual route of getting tires, figured I would ask where BGP got their tires and maybe these a better place or a cheaper route to go.
November 26, 201312 yr I just got mine from my dealer when I went in for my mileage check up. Probably paid more than I should have but I travel so much I try and get allthings in one trip instead of shop around. I have used Fleet in latonia the most. Very good service and prices.
November 26, 201312 yr Tire Discounters. Since it is my recommendation you will probably shop elsewhere.

I got mine from the dealership as well. I had checked different places but found the dealership was about $300 dollars below what I could get them anywhere else.
November 26, 201312 yr I usually wait for NTB to run a buy 2 and an alignment and get 2 free special. Got 4 tires and an all wheel alignment for my Tahoe for $600. Everywhere else wanted $800 just for the tires.
November 26, 201312 yr Author Tire Discounters. Since it is my recommendation you will probably shop elsewhere. Actually I have had several sets of tires from TD with no issues, however they no longer carry any tires I like for this car.
November 26, 201312 yr Author Wal-Mart Bought 3 different sets of truck tires from Walmart in the past, but again they dont sell my size in these car tires.

Tried the dealer the last 2 times the car has been in for service and they have tried to sell me cheap tires IMO. I drive to much to put 40000 mile tires on this car. Current set of tires was 70000 mile tires and I am currently on 76000 miles on them.
November 26, 201312 yr About 15 years ago the National Sales Mgr for Bob Summeral tire told me they purchased their Michlin tires from Sams as they couldn't get them as cheap anywhere else. don't know if that's still the case but ever since then I buy from Sams when I want to get Michlin.
November 26, 201312 yr I go to Tire Discounters....Always seems to have solid tires for a reasonable price. Got 4 in January for ~$515.
November 26, 201312 yr Ahhhh tire buying...a favorite topic of mine. There is no "best place" to buy tires. I have bought many a set over the years, and several sets in the past 4-5 years for 4 or 5 different vehicles. One thing I have learned over the years...CALL CALL CALL all stores anywhere you are willing to drive to get them and compare prices. The cheapest place you found a set last time might be one of the most expensive places the next, and vice versa. Also, don't always go for the "Top brand" name, like Goodyear, Firestone, etc. All the manufactures have "2nd label" brands that are usually much cheaper and is basically the same tire or very comparable. The one thing I have found...contrary to VOR's post...is that Tire Discounters is consistently one of and usually the most expensive place I have priced tires and have never bought anything from them. I have had multiple luck with Ken Towery's in Lexington at different locations, but again they weren't always the best deal. I have never had much luck at Wal Mart and I always find better prices on comparable tires elsewhere. But again, CALL CALL CALL. I wouldn't even think about buying a set till I called about 15 places and priced what I was looking for. And don't just call the big guys, call the local mom and pop places too, you kind find deals there as well.
