It doesn't matter if you have morals or not they will still find a way to drink etc... That won't change no matter who your parents or who the coach is. I'm sure most parents don't let their kid drink on the weekends. As I mentioned before this happened when I was there in the early 90's.

Lets see... Iron Mike guys, Wilmhoff, Hergott, Berger, Procochino. How many State Championships is that? The o-line staff has 2 former D-1 players and a 12yr NFL vet. Do you think its easy to find that kind of experience on a coaching staff? These guys work 40+ hours a week at their full time jobs then spend countless hours doing everything everything they can to win games, develop talent, and develop student a true student athlete and and people wanna throw stones. Where do you coach? How many games games have you called the offense? How many State Championships and Semi-Finals have you played in?

I agree with you! These men put all of their time and effort into this program where they helped build into a state power! They want to win just as much or even more than anyone else! I played with all of these guys! They hated losing! As far as people saying Greg needs to be let go as OC. I have know him for over 30 years! I know he puts everything he has into this program! If people think they can do a better job than these guys go apply for the job then!

I agree! And to clarify my last post, I meant in the last game of the season, I agree that during the season sometimes coaches need to be brutally honest.

 

There is no doubt you have to do that during the season, but definitely not after a tough loss. It' slike a punch in the gut.

Coach Rash (OLD SPORTS DAD) is also a teacher and they make sure the kids are well aware is the class room comes first. You know it really don't matter what I say here you have your mind made up and if you think about Coach Rash coach with Coach Yeagle during those good years. Coach Rash is by far a better coach then what is out there today and he is a personal friend of mind. There are not many programs out there that are close to Beechwood and like Coach Bucket said many strive to be like them. JD

Ok wiseguy. You don't know so don't try to make crap up like that. I'm "the kinda guy" who tell my kids to do as I say, not as I DID. They know I drank in High school and more imprtantly, they know that I won't put up with it from them. I also have news for you, my KID was dressed for the game when 13 of his teammates were either suspended or kicked off the team.

 

You are clearly on the outside and you have no idea what has gone on that he has let slide. Most BW people know the truth. We all laughed when he suspended the kids and people like you were applauding and praising him. We laughed because it was a Joke.

 

Punishment under Rash is has been very selective. It's simple, if you're a stud or your dad is a croney, minimal or no punishment. If you are not, good luck. This goes for everything form simple attendance rules to much worse problems.

 

I have all kinds of stuff directly from the kids. I won't put it here because there is no value in it.

Again, these coaches didn't build it into a State Power. It was a was State Power when they tookk it over.

Rule 2

I don't want to speak for OSD but I think what he has been trying to say but has been mistsrewed is the following.

 

1. He never said the coaches don't put in a lot of time. Putting in time doesn't equate to being good.

2. He never said the coaches aren't nice people and he never said they don't want to win. Still doesn't equate to being the best in the area as to some have claimed.

3. Beechwood was already one of the best 1A teams in the state with numerious state titles, to think or even claim Coach Rash has built them to a state title contender is not only a slap in the face to the coaches that came before him to build the program but also a slap in the face to all the players that came before. Coach was given a very good team and a great tradition, with all things equal he hasn't been as succesful as some would think. Being a nice guy or a tough player in his playing days does not automatically give you a free pass.

4. As far as the players suspended for drinking, from the outside and not knowing what has gone inside the program it may look like the coach did the right thing and should be commended, but without knowing the facts surrounding the incident along with other incidents inside the program not known to the public should not give the coach an automatic pass and make him out to be a siant before all the facts are known.

Hergott was a great player, no one could ever say otherwise. Berger is still the best athlete to ever play all three sports at Beechwood. Nobody is taking anything away from these guys and the kind of athletes they were. Being a great player or athelete doesn't automatically make you a great coach. I know that with the exception of Hergott and Brilz, the assistants don't have any real responsibility and don't seem to get listened to. For all I know, one of them could be the next Yeagle.

 

Just because you played D1 or Pro, doesn't mean you can coach. I would argue that it probably gets in the way. No doubt these two coaches were amazing players with a lot of talent, but the persepctive is all wrong when you are coaching the line in a Class A program. I would argue, we don't want their kind of experience. The two teams (BW and HC) that have fomer NFL Linemen coaching them, have two of the most under producing lines in area. So it just doesn't equate.

 

Why do you guys keep giving Rash and staff credit for the Student part of Beechwood kids? That's insulting to their Parents, Teachers and most importantly to them. They don't do crap to develp a student athlete.

Beechwood is lucky to have Coach Rash and his coaching staff and they know more football then most of the people posting on here. I could understand if a program was losing and not winning games. With all the new schools Boone County has opened lately the kids in Boone County have more choices back in the day it was Boone, CovCath and Beechwood. Back in the day there were a lot of kids playing at Beechwood from the Boone County Pee Wee league now they have more choices. JD

Yes, I know he's a teacher. He's still not responsible for building student athletes and I don't applaud him for making players put school first. Every High School coach should. If he didn't, then he would definitely be gone. Did I tell you that I have been around Beechwood for over 50 years? Please don't try to pretend you know more than me about the inside of Beechwood. I have watched more Beechwood Football than the entire coaching staff put together. I guarantee I have more perspective about all things Beechwood than any outsider. Even if you are a "Personal Friend of Noel Rash"
