I appreciate where you are w/ that. As has been stated to exhaustion, NewCath is geographically very close to Highlands. It's not like the Breds are picking and choosing who comes to NewCath. Go down this roster and the 1984 roster, or the 1975 roster and you'll see a lot of familiar last names.

I just have 1 question for anyone who wants to answer. Where would you prefer NCC to play football at? There is not a " private school " leagues so should they not be allowed to play because of that? I get so sick of hearing people complain about this yr after yr!

I don't want to just assume but yes I believe so that's its complaints about NCC all the time. Those boys work just as hard as every team out here. They battle the first part of their season with all big schools. They gight through doubts, through injuries and anything else thrown their way. Stop complaining about them being a private school and just play the game. The best team will win the game Friday night.

Somerset is only "Geographically-limited" because they choose to be.

 

I appreciate Jumper Dad's views and have never seen him make excuses for Somerset's performance. He's been critical when he didn't think they were performing up to their talent level yet always been supportive. I pray that the travel is safe and that both teams remain injury free.

A debate for another thread...BUT, the only schools in KY that are "geographically limited" are the public schools that choose to be "geographically limited". A student can attend any high school they want and play sports. There are no limitations unless the school system sets limitations. Any kid in Pulaski County or even surrounding counties can attend Somerset if they want, unless Somerset chooses to not allow it. The KHSAA and KY rules will allow it. Just setting the record straight.

I understand there can be benefits to being a private school. Some of them do thrive on having expanded boundries that some public schools don't have. They attract kids because of their academics and traditions in sports. They earned that somewhere along the way. But to generalize that private schools have an advantage in an article because you are playing a private school is pretty silly. It leads you to believe that all private schools are elite because they are private and have different boundries. Well there are plenty of private schools that are no good in sports. And there are private schools in every division of KY football. If you look at the teams left, only 3 of 24 (12%) schools left in the playoffs are private. If being private was such an advantage, I would expect that to be much higher. The private schools get a bad rap because of the dominance of the large private schools (T and X). You can't generalize.

 

But honestly, it is what it is. Play who they put in front of you and deal with it. If you don't like it, work harder and get better. I am so tired of hearing excuses on why little Johnny didn't win a championship. We find ways to let our kids know that "it wasn't fair" or "you were cheated" or "you should have been given the same opportunity". It's crazy and we are killing society!!! You have a choice to send your kid to a private school if you want. You also have a choice to put in more work than the other kid. You also have the choice get a better education so you can earn enough money to send your kid to a private school. Everyone has options and I get sick and tired of people blaming someone else. It's out of control and this article is a prime example. Pitiful!!

I think we've established that it's a quasi-private independent school, possibly with public tendencies.

My question to the NCC fans on here who are so upset is - Why do you care so much about people saying that private schools have an advantage? Seems to me that you may be protesting too much. Just go out and win another state championship like you do almost every year. Why worry about what others think, unless there is something to be worried about.

I bet they did. NCC has some very talented players. It's amazing that they have that kind of talent year in and year out. It almost seems unfair.

Unfair?? These boys go out and work their butts off night after night, to keep the tradition going at NCC. They don't have the best players in 2A walking in the doors, they develop their team so they can go out and compete wk after wk. Take a look at their schedule, they play a tough schedule so they can better prepare themselves for games like this. For anybody to write an article saying what was said is what's unfair!
