November 22, 201312 yr My mom was in class at Frankfort High School when JFK got shot... I was at FHS in class when 9/11 happened.
November 22, 201312 yr Interesting observation I just heard about "the event where you will always remember where you were". For "The Greatest Generation", Pearl Harbor. For "Generation X", 9-11. For Boomers, 11/22/63. I guess I'm a tweener, because January 28, 1986 (Shuttle Challenger Disaster) is a day I will always remember, along with 9/11/01.
November 22, 201312 yr Author Those events were all tragic. The event of my youth that I remember best was the Moon landing in 1969. I remember that one real well. We were vacationing in southern Florida at my aunt and uncle's house. Parents made sure I was awake to watch it on TV.
November 22, 201312 yr I was 3. I have images of things that happened but whether they are true memories of the events at the time or memories of seeing things in the ensuing years I'm not sure.

November 22, 201312 yr I'd add the space shuttle exploding to the list. It doesn't stick with people like Challenger does because nobody was watching it, but I'll never forget being in my dorm room in the early morning during my Freshman year of college when the news broke in that the shuttle Columbia had disintegrated over Texas on reentry.
November 22, 201312 yr Hard to believe it has been 50 years. I remember I was in the 1st grade playing on the playground when we were called back to class then sent home. I was watching TV when Ruby shot Oswald.
November 22, 201312 yr Anyone else old enough to remember where you were? I was in 3rd grade classroom when the news broke. 2nd grade for me. Remember the sorrow, sadness and tears on the teachers' faces and others outside the school like it was yesterday. Parents were called to come pick us up and we were off school a few days after that. Remember everyone glued to the TV for the days that followed. Remember watching the funeral on our black & white Philco. Also remember Masses being extremely full. November 23, 201312 yr I was in 4th grade. I remember we had just returned from lunch and the teachers were outside the classroom door in a frantic state talking about the President bring shot. They said he wasn't dead, but then a few minutes later said he had died. Several of them were crying. That was a crazy, sad weekend. The events surrounding the assassination and then the killing of Oswald by Ruby. And then the funeral.
February 19, 201412 yr You want to read a good book? Now it's just a work of fiction but Steven King 11-22-63 is indeed worth reading. Link One of my favorite books (this is where I get my username). The Kennedy assassination fascinates me to no end.
