November 17, 201312 yr I know I keep sayin this but, this years goal isn't results driven. Yes, everyone wants to win. With the roster Stoops inherited there was no way they could win a lot of games. This years goal is to instill Stoops values and mindset to this team, and this season has been very successful in that regard. Next year is a year in which to start focusing on results a little. In 3 years, good things will come.
November 17, 201312 yr How is UK's UK's redshirt crop this year? Are any of them projected to be starters next year?
November 17, 201312 yr "The best thing that can happen to this team is graduation." That's the quote I heard today and I'm starting t o believe it. Next year you will see almost all of the play Brown and Stoops want.

In 3 years, good things will come. Glad you can see something positive coming out of this season. I see nothing. The coaching staff may get a pass on the talent they inherited. Not in other areas. I think they have done a poor job with player evaluation. A poor job with game planning. A poor job with adjustments. A poor job at getting better. They had so much momentum coming out of spring practice, fans were excited, blogs were blowing up with posts, UK was a buzz. Now you can't get more than dozen posts in a game thread. Sad.
November 17, 201312 yr It's tough to do all those things mentioned above when you have the wrong tools to begin with.

There's still excitement around the program, a top 15 recruiting class, still getting over 50K at home games is impressive. Also it's hard to evaluate talent hen they have to choose from players who can't start at other SEC schools. Although the W's haven't increased this year, the on field product has been a lot better than in the past 3 years.

Next year will be another 2-3 win season. UK has to commit for the long haul and take a bunch of punches till then.
November 18, 201312 yr As others as well as I have said all along....this is going to take time, a lot of time. Next season, imo should be better but not a huge improvement. Stoops is going to need three classes to get talent along with building depth. Not three classes to win big, be competitive on a regular basis. That's just how far down this Kentucky football program is down. One or two good recruiting classes is a start but not a fix. Really, this season is going about as I expected. Next season a little better, then the next, ....
November 18, 201312 yr How is UK's UK's redshirt crop this year? Are any of them projected to be starters next year? There are 7 true freshman in the 2 deep, now. 13 seniors. Given the quality of the recruiting class, I'd look for more true freshman to play next year. Holding back players is becoming less and less commonplace. With all the 7 on 7 camps, freshman are coming in ready to play and recruiters are using "play now" as tool to get them.
November 18, 201312 yr How long did it take Rich Brooks to turn the corner? This process is going to take 4-5 years. There will be more dips in the road for the next 2 years. IT will be year 4 before I start judging the coaching ability. Like it or not, the fall of the UK program came under Brook's watch from a recruiting standpoint. I don't think his staff recruited real well his last year or 2 and that has crippled the momentum UK had at one time.

UK fans have to weather the storm. A lot of UK fans are looking forward to next year, good luck.

If I recall Brooks was left some talent. But he also had to deal with probation. Stoops is dealing with poor player development and average recruiting.
