I really like Warner, think he's got a great football mind. I unfortunatley agree with RE and have said the same thing last year and got blasted for it. But when you have as many dads coaching as I've heaard you do it does more damage than good in the long run. One of the first problems that come frrom it is you find some of your better players don't even come out for the team anymore and that should never happen.

 

I hope they get it straightened out at Ryle because there is too much talent there. Now I'm not against all Dad's as coaches but when your coaaching staff has what is apparently the majority of coacches on it having their kids also playing at the school then wether or not if it's true or not, it's hard to get away from the perception of what could be occuring.

 

thanks to all the coaches for all the long hours and time put into the sport and helping the kids etc. but at the same time, is it possible by doing more harm than not? Sometimes it just may be doing more harm than good.

I too think Bryson is a good coach and has a good football mine. I like the way Clyde and others say in this let him stay. As for parent's coaching I hate coaches who are into it only for their kid that starts at the Pee Wee level. I tried for several years running the Erlanger Lions to have fathers coach in the level their kids were not playing. It is hard to turn away volunteers when you can't find the teacher's with the right credential's that want to coach for the pay they get. I can guarantee you Coach Warner is all about the kids and not the money. I say give him a couple more years and if his record does not improve then make the decision. I also have to say if someone has an axe to grind go talk to Coach Warner I am sure he would listen. JD

I don't like the idea of firing high school coaches over Ws and Ls.

 

If a coach is hurting the organization then you replace him. If not, you let him stay. Ws and Ls are not on my list of items to make such a determination.

 

Back when we were in HS, the coach was never fired. He may have gotten burned out or losing got to him, but he never was fired. Our parents expectations were that he treated the kids well and was not an embarrassment as a person.

 

Now, Ryle wants fb coach gone, too many parents involved who want a say,wanted girls coaches gone, etc. They are the embarrassment and don't even know it. Ryle is with epitome of everything wrong with current sports climate. Great kids, great athletes, bad environment. Good luck.

You are forgetting the talent that Cooper took from Ryle. Boone use to dominate also until Ryle was built. How quickly people turn when the talent level is not there but expectations are.

No easy answers but W/L are not on it. CCH replaced a good basketball coach who was still winning games because they felt the vibe wasn't good and they needed a new leader. How do you quantify that?

How casually do we forget four years ago, 12-2. It's obvious everybody wants little Johnny to win. The window of opportunity for HS sports is about 2-3 years as is the parent posters on BGP. When Johnny graduates so do most posters here

There are so many factors that went against Ryle having success this season. Ryle lost 7 of their 17 seniors due to season ending injuries, most of them defensive backs. Ryle played 4 or more quarterbacks, for the second straight season...mostly due to lack of production and some due to injury. It's really easy to blame coaching when things don't go well and I think some of it is warranted. But to be completely truthful, they played a JV team with the exception of Sowards and Mann for most of the year. It certainly showed Friday night.

 

People have to understand things will improve in Union. Regardless of who the administration elects to coach, the team will be better next year and years to come. I certainly hope parents don't force the decision.

I agree but I will have disagree with the talent in last years senior class. 25 seniors last year. They lost a ton of talent last two years and I think people who know football knew this year would be a struggle for them due to youth. But they team last year should have done better. Also the 2011 and 2012 schedule was brutal. Colerain, Columbus Desales, Highlands, A state championship team in Cooper, Henry Clay. So maybe they were not better than their schedule. A lot of the injuries are due to practice styles as well. You can't beat the heck out of them in practice.

I think just about EVERYONE thought Boone Co. would have a miserable season, given their division and schedule, a brand new coach with a brand new scheme, his very talented son lost to injury, etc. It would be RIDICULOUS for him to be fired and that's why no one is calling for HIS job. I don't think the posts regarding getting Warner out are coming from the Raider parents, they seem content to wallow in the muck for the most part. It's outsiders who look at their facility (by far the best in Boone Co.), hear nothing but "Look at our youth, freshmen, JV - they are STUDS!" and then nothing comes from those STUDS at Varsity, and some who think 20 coaches on one sideline is just too flippin' many especially when they are parents!! Less parents coaching is what is needed at Ryle, NOT more parental involvement!
