You have to evaluate every situation differently. In this particular situation, Martin did the right thing. Him confronting Incognito would've done nothing to solve the issue, it would've only made it worse.

 

I think it can be argued that what Martin did do, knowing the reactions it would cause which is evident by you and PP just in this thread, took a lot more backbone and guts than acting like a meathead and fighting Incognito.

For discussion purposes because I do not have a position in this yet...you claim if Martin stood up it would have gotten worse. The whole point apparently of what Richie was doing was to toughen up Martin. If Martin stood up to Richie, punched him, whatever, won't that be the very thing Richie was trying to accomplish?

I'll give all of you five to one that Martin's suffering from clinical depression and that CTE from playing football is at the root of it.

 

That's the real reason that the NFL and the Dolphins are in such damage control over this. They don't care if he's "soft", they want to make sure no one looks closely at why this affected him so greatly. They want him to go away.

I would say it is highly unlikely a 2nd year offensive lineman is suffering from CTE.

Research is still early here, but they're finding it in athletes as young as high school. Everyone's brain reacts differently to the hits.

I agree with Getslow and UKMF...Personally....I taught my son to walk away from physical violence and bullies. You don't engage them. Engaging them in any way only encourages them

If Martin chose to leave to get out of an untenable situation, it makes me think he's stronger than most of you are giving him credit for. The unfortunate thing about bullying is that it doesn't stop in adulthood. The best way to get the best of a bully is outwit them. And that includes bullies who only use verbal and emotional tactics.

This is where I lose sympathy for Martin. I'm nowehere near his size and there is absolutely no way Richie Incognito would make me do anything against my will within the bounds of the law. He is not my dad.
