You're telling me that if Martin had taken a swing on him to get him off his back, Incognito says, "well, that's that?"

Incognito is one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. In a fight he's going to look to hurt Martin and win decisively, if for no other reason than he doesn't want to lose face in a locker room that doesn't respect Martin because he doesn't fit the culture.

 

If Martin wanted to get Incognito to stop bullying him, he'd have to knock Incognito out or worse, and if somehow Martin could do it (and I would wager he can't, I bet Richie's had a few good ol' fashioned bare knuckle brawls in his day) then we're back to a scenario where he's just beaten unconscious a starting veteran on a team trying to make the playoffs, on a team where they already like Incognito because he's one of the guys and dislike Martin because he's not.

Never said it excuses it. I just don't see him being out of the league as a result. The NFL cares about one thing. Money. They don't care about the players or what happens to the players or what kind of character these players have. The worse their character is the better as far as the NFL is concerned. This isn't a gentleman's game. It is a barbaric sport with physical and mental repurcussions that no sport in this world comes close to touching when it comes to money made off of the blood, sweat and tears of the players. It will never be rooted out and you're fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

I would have preferred to have had Martin stand up for himself before he ran home to mommy and daddy. I prefer for grown men to act like grown men. If that involves Martin having to get violent then so be it. At least he stood up for himself. You keep invoking violence into standing up for yourself. All of the results are speculatory and assumptions. He never stood up for himself so who knows in 100% certainty what Richie would have done? You can't base an argument on something we don't know because it never happened. What if he stood up for himself and Richie gave him a hug and apologized? Then what?
