Civil Servant ...most of the roles on the left do offer power and many require an ability to make objective, clinical decisions divorced from feelings. October 31, 201312 yr Ok, so the thread title is a little misleading, as if the professions CAUSE the disorder when in fact DUE TO the disorder, psychopaths are drawn to those professions. NOT that I am any kind of control freak! And I totally get the Chef thing if it's about power.

October 31, 201312 yr I listened to a Scientific American podcast recently on just this subject called "Psychopathy's Bright Side". The psychologist they had on compared compared impulses in the brain to the knobs on a sound mixer. He noted that if certain ones were turned up high, they fall outside the norms of human behavior, but so long as others like the impulse to violence or a compulsion to act rashly were at normal levels, these people are extremely successful in their professional lives. He talked a lot about politicians and specifically mentioned Winston Churchill.
October 31, 201312 yr Chef :lol2: I've worked with chef's and former chef's my whole career. I definitely can vouch for that career's inclusion on that list. Chefs (as a whole) have some of the highest strung personalities if any group of people I can think of. No, not all have psychopathic tendencies, but I think these are the exceptions that prove the rule. :lol:
