Newport with a couple nice district wins. I bet there aren't many who predicted the Cats would be the #2 seed.

Congratulations to the Wildcats; sounds like things are beginning to head in the right direction for Newport.

WOW! I thought Lloyd was stouter than that. Way to go Wildcats!

Big win for Coach Schmitz and his team.

Shocked by this one.

Really? After the Newport/NCC game I thoughtthat HC, Lloyd, and Newport were all relatively capable of beating each other on any given Friday. Remember HC was up 21-7 and about to go up 28-7 when they threw the INT that allowed Lloyd to comeback. HC and Newport go to OT. And Lloyd was the only one not to put the running clock on Brossart. I guess Newport gets the Friday home playoff game moving NCC to Saturday.

Newport will host a playoff game for the first time since 2006. They hosted back to back years in 05 and 06.

Congrats to the Wildcat program.

Big win for Coach Schmitz and his team.

We played them early in the season in a rainstorm and I thought he did a really good job with them. He is a good football coach.

Any game details on this one? I am also surprised by this.

I am shocked because Lloyd has been playing well and Newport came on strong over their last 5 games. Guess Lloyd may have been looking ahead or did Newport just put it to Lloyd. Would also like to know details on this one. Jugg's lets get ready for the playoffs and recoup. JD

I don't know if it was the Joseph kid(#25) I think that's his name getting healthy or Newport kind of figured out who they were but during the 2nd half of the Pendelton county game they started running him often and they have been much more effective ever since. That kid is a load and can carry the rock.

He has some nice size for sure, and can really move a pile.

Originally at Lloyd and moved to Newport our loss and I am happy he had a good game since most of the players on Lloyd was on his 7th/8th grade Championship Team at Tichenor. What a great kid and miss him dearly. Wish him and Newport good luck in playoff's. JD
