What If The Reds Traded Brandon Phillips?

How about Choo's 4.2 WAR and Arroyo's 2.5 WAR? That's 8 wins between them.

Choo is a different story but my point was replacing Phillips wouldn't be terribly difficult. I think Cingrani can effectively replace Arroyo. (2.2 WAR this year)

Except my point was they win 75 games with the new roster netted out. No Arroyo, no Choo, no Phillips and possibly no Bailey. First time manager. Huge limitations in LF, 3B, SS, and catcher, not to mention a newly created hole in CF and 2B.

No one loves the Reds more than I do, both personally as well as professionally, but I'm just trying to paint a clear picture of 2014. Not many teams (i.e. Cardinals and ...) can remain in the post-season during a major re-tooling.

If they are trading Bailey I expect to get a big replacement part so it's hard to say right now.

If you're going to use a Lance McAlister tweet as your own' date=' shouldn't you use quotes? He tweets it at 4:40, you waited 3 whole minutes. Nice.[/quote']

It's common sense nobody needs someone you get info from daily to state the obvious in business practice.

See if you can upgrade at shortstop with a deal for Philips and see if a Chapman/prospect deal could get Ian Kinsler out of Texas.

^Phillips will not bring back a major leaguer unless it's a salary dump a la the Uggla speculation...

I'm sure it was a coincidence you posted the exact same thing he tweeted 3 minutes earlier, my bad.

While Uggla is a bad contract it's only bad for 2 more years. That's an interesting deal. It really depends on what they do in the OF IMO.

I'm going to say this again because I think it's a viable option. What if the Reds deal BP for Andre Eithier? The Dodgers are going to get rid of him or Kenp and seem to be wanting an upgrade at 2B. His contract is terrible but it would be a great upgrade in the OF. But 17 mil a year is kinda scary for him.

I'm not convinced that cat has a ticker -- PASS.

Dodgers kick in the extra money to cover the rest of the contract. Would you tater have Ludwick or Eithier in left?

Is there a door #3? I have zero interest in players with no ticker. Ludwick is overpaid and average, but dude cares.

My vote is to package Bailey with BP and try to get a big bat . Get rid of two head cases and hopefully pick up a RBI guy .

Now that Price is the guy I don't think Bailey will get dealt anymore

I vote keep the staff as is, and trade the A's straight up, our position players for theirs. Problem solved. Tickers and all.
