BareRock
I'm glad to hear that you are a former Germantown ball player. I bet you enjoyed the low rent and overhead that St. X gave Germantown Liltte league....for years. St.X has enriched the lives of many ball players over the years with their unselfish lease of this land to Germantown. What changes have been made that will truly affect ball play at this park...that St.X owns and lets Germantown use? The other information in your post is false or maybe you are just mis-informed. The sign to the Germantown ball fields is about the same size as before. The new entrance is much safer and easier to find than the old one. Also the tennis courts seat 300...hardly zero...and what does a wooded area have to do with the price of peanuts? St.X never gave low rent to Germantown Little League, The Arch Diocese of Louisville did ! Actually , the City of Louisville paid for much of what is Germantown Little League, including the parking lot ! The Archdiocese and the city of Louisville are those to thank for Germantown Little League, St.X has never done 1 thing to help out the little league. They have just used everything that was there, and , eventually talked the archbishop into letting them be land owner without paying 1 cent ! However, in a provision made by the archdiocese , St.X can not overtake the little league without replacing the entire park and making it 'just as accommadating'. St.X still has never done 1 thing for Germantown, nor does it plan too, except for using its facilities that were paid for by tax payers money! Tigercat
Does anyone think that st.x is stuggleing for money? lmao Absolutely not. The 2nd phase of the project was not to begin until certain pledges were made. The first phase is paid in full. A one miilion dollar pledge ($500,000.00 plus a matching $500,000.00) was made in December to allow the project to proceed.
CharlieWeis
Does anyone think that st.x is stuggleing for money? lmao Not at all. This project was designed and the fund-raising efforts were set up to not compete with or jeopardize the annual fund. Even with the alum base that X has raising 28 million will take a while. Project X is an animal of its own.

St.X has been the landlord since 2000...and they just created about 150 new parking spots for the Germantown faithful to use. They also made a much larger......easier to find ...and safer entrance to the park...without changing any fields!

Get updated! 1st-Germantown Baseball is not Little League. They are Babe Ruth affiliated. Although, one of the original Little Leagues in Louisville Germantown Baseball broke ties with Little League in 1964 2nd-In 1999 the Archdiocese sold the land to St. X with the stipulation Germantown is allowed to use the park. St. X has, and will continue to honor that agreement. 3rd-The concession stands, etc. were paid for through Germantown fundraisers, not tax dollars (for one, they have a very successful annual picnic-FYI, May 20th this year). 4th-St. X offers parking to Germantown fans and participants including the couple hundred new parking spots now available, (paid for with St. X dollars not tax payers), which Germantown desperately needed. 5th-The new entrance is much safer, as there were accidents and side swipes through the old entrance. Also, St. X agreed to include Germantown on their roadside marquis and Germantown can errect their own sign on Poplar Level Rd., if they so desire. 6th-Although there was the loss of several old and beautiful trees in the renovation, much overgrown weeds, underbrush and vermin were also cleared out. IMO, I think the now, partial view from Poplar Level Rd. into the ballpark is very good looking and I hope they continue to clear out the rest of the overgrowth for a full view from Polplar Level Rd. 7th-St. X only uses Diamond 1 for freshman practices, with Germantown's O.K. The two organizations are good neighbors and working with each other to keep it that way.

BareRock
Yeah, It was in 2000 that St.X 'persuaded " the archdiocese to let them be landlords.(for a buck I think it was?) The parking lot was provided by monies that came from your alderman to help the "little league'.( which is the term generally used by the public for youth baseball 12 and under--and yes , Germantown hasn't been sanctioned by anyone other than Babe Ruth since I can remember) It has only been since 2000 that St.X has allowed Germantown Baseball Inc. to use its parking lot, while they have used the Germantown lot for their students for about 20 years. Get updated. You got one heckuva steal from that park, and it was fine the way it was.And while the X people think everything is fine there are many that do not like what has taken place . Typical sour grapes from a landlocked pebble who's baseball, swimming, track, and tennis teams have no on-campus facilities. Please take your black cloud and rain on someone else's parade. To date this has been a win/win for St. X. and Germantown, and we look forward to a continued excellent relationship.
knightsdad
I was impressed the first time I drove by X two years ago on my way to Manual stadium. Now I'm more impressed. The video was great. You have a lot to be proud of.

You don't like it because you can't have it at T. Yes, you can always find someone who doesn't like change and will call it a bad thing, and that is what you are hanging your argument on. The Germantown people and X have a good working relationship and co-exist quite nicely, thank you

Kevo302
Anyone else get a sick feeling in their stomach knowing that their high school will never get a facility like that. Was it just me or did ST. X look like a small college. It's like they alway's said, "money makes the world go round."
