St. X New football field and Athletic Complex

Featured Replies

This thread is about the athletic complex so let's get back to it....

The football field looks to be awesome. All the work that has already been completed is very nice. The traffic circle, the tennis courts, the new entrance, the building upgrades all look very good.

The tennis courts are just about finished. They are awesome. They can be seen from Poplar Level Road just to the right of the new entrance.

As a former Germantown Baseball participant, I am saddened by the shabby entrance signage alotted Germantown Little League. Also, the drainage will be more of a nightmare with the Fort Glaser Mound for parking replacing the small wooded area between X and G-town fields and those fabulous tennis courts that have zero seating (sort of resembles your cement pond, great for athletes that no one will pay to watch). Call it St. X little league now. My eight year old was very upset with the "progress". Choking off that League may come back to haunt dear old St.X.

I'm glad to hear that you are a former Germantown ball player. I bet you enjoyed the low rent and overhead that St. X gave Germantown Liltte league....for years. St.X has enriched the lives of many ball players over the years with their unselfish lease of this land to Germantown. What changes have been made that will truly affect ball play at this park...that St.X owns and lets Germantown use?

The other information in your post is false or maybe you are just mis-informed. The sign to the Germantown ball fields is about the same size as before. The new entrance is much safer and easier to find than the old one. Also the tennis courts seat 300...hardly zero...and what does a wooded area have to do with the price of peanuts?

Completely false XCard. If you're basing your opinion of all Trinity fans, parents, and students on a few BGP posters, you're grossly misjudging the Trinity faithful. I'm glad I personally know many, MANY X faithful, and would never have to restrict my judgement of them to my experiences here at BGP.

My respone was more to the BGP posters who make these kind of comments.

Like you, I know and have many friends who are T alumni and they do not have that attitude. I had my turn as a student and all the rivalry at its highest level. Today, with a little more perspective, I know both are great schools and am a firm believer in the programs of both! Have to defend Coach and the school when appropriate.

Back to the thread. The tennis courts look great at this stage. Hopefully, when all is finished in this area, things will be corrected and make for a good looking entrance for Germantown ballpark. Speaking of baseball, the tiger 9 will be inconvenienced for a year or so but it will be worth it in the long run. This whole complex will be something for the students and alumni to share and be proud of. The football stadium will be fantastic! Soooooo overdue. Glad to see it is finally going to happen. It will be nice to actually go to 'home games'. Without a doubt, a new era in St X tradition will unfold! I'm ready to order my opening night tickets now!!

We're talking about our children here, OX.....I think some Flubber is more in order!

I was, of course, referring to non-alcoholic brewskis, Rockmom. ;)

Yeah TD, the Tigers do have a basketball team ...one-point better than the pebbles, may I add..., but like many of their compatriots they suffer from the dreaded private school B-ball losing syndrome, due mainly to a lack of hops. Maybe a good, strong brewski diet of well-aged Billy Beer from the attic at Check's would provide the hops so vitally needed. What do you think? :jump:

I'm like you Xcard. While I am a T fan. I have many X friends and business associations. I want both schools to be successful because it benefits the kids.

While it's still ok to have that rivalry in your heart when the schools meet in competition :ylsuper: :ylsuper: it's just not that big of a deal in the day to day stuff as you get older.

I look forward to seeing the new facilities upon completion at X.

As a member from NKY could someone from Louisville post a map showing the relative locations of X and Trinity . I'm familiar with the Popular Level road area because of the location of OVVC and my daughter playing volleyball there and also going to the zoo in between her games at OVVC . Is St Agnes the Catholic church near the Zoo?

St. Agnes is up the road form the Zoo on Newburg near Bellarmine. If you left the zoo and went right on Polar Level go three lights down and X will be on the right just past the Hospital. If you stay on the Watterson(264) and go further east than Poplar Level to Shelbyville rd exit then go north and you will hit Trinity up past the Mall.

The school near the zoo on Poplar Level is Holy Family. St. Agnes is actually situated directly behind X, as the crow flies.

Speaking of the traffic circle...that's in use now, right?

Secondly...does all of this have anything to do with the construction entrance next to St. Agnes? Is that going to eventually be a cut-through to X from Newburg? I just wonder, because I'll be trying to avoid that area unless they put in a turning light.... :creepy:

Rockmom they are building a direct pipeline from St.Agnes to St.X. Pipelines to the other grade schools are next!(If you build it they will come)

Crud! I was wondering about that.

Good thing Trinity has those kryogenic labs underneath the Marshall Center, or you guys would be getting all the good kids! :D

I understand that the St. X baseball team will be playing its' home games at Bellarmine University while the new complex is under construction. I haven't been to a game there in a few years, but I remember Bellarmine being a great place to play baseball.

I hope that is true. We played several AAU tournament games there a couple of years ago. Really nice set up. I think that would be a good alternate site for the team. The boys should feel good about that being there 'home field' for awhile.

WOW AWSOME video! It is obvious why the alum are so proud of their school!
