It deals with more than just simple Range Factor: Second Basemen: Second base is a much tighter race than a season ago, when Darwin Barney ran away from the field saving an estimated 28 runs for the Cubs. Barney remains a factor in 2013, but Dustin Pedroia edges him in Runs Saved thanks to his exceptional range. Pedroia also converted 46 "difficult" groundball outs, which led the position. Brandon Phillips was third in that category with 34, but he struggled to turn double plays and had a good number of other misplays this season. Phillips’ reputation may still be enough to net him the Gold Glove in the National League. October 7, 201312 yr LeCure can be a strong closer. I'd put Chapman in the rotation until he shows me he's not a starter. Too late to do that. They only have Chapman two more years. I'd trade him to someone wanting to make him a starter before I converted him myself if I was the Reds.

But I don't think you have to if you have a rotation of Latos, Cueto, Baily, Leake and Cingrani. The staff is hardly the problem. Agree wholeheartedly. The thing that I'd actually look at doing, would be to maybe mix up the order. I never really liked the idea of having your three fireballers back-to-back-to-back (Cueto, Latos, Bailey) and your two off-speed pitchers together (Arroyo, Leake). I know Arroyo is not likely to be back next year, but I still wouldn't mind throwing Cingrani in between say Cueto and Latos, and put Leake in between Latos and Bailey. (That way, you'd only have Bailey/Cueto as the only potential situation when the rotation turns over.)

Not the press you want as a fan base...although some don't care how they are perceived. It doesn't bode well when attempting to get a top level manager in the future.

The same can be said about every fan base in every sport across the country. It's not exclusive to Cincinnati fans.

It's easy to say that, but if you look at how long he's left guys that can't get on base in the one and two hole the last two years he deserves the criticism. For him to come out and say it's not called walking it's called hitting when two of his three best hitters have a fantastic approach to "hitting" it's dumb.
