But from my perspective the HARD feelings occur when public schools are eliminated from post season play by private schools. To help eliminate this I would be for the following solution. Split the state into 12 public regions and 4 private regions. When the KHSAA has its state tournament draw the 12 public regions will draw against each other and the 4 private regions will draw against each other and be the last two games of the tournament. When the brackets play out it would only be possible for a private school to eliminate one public school each year.( not counting the championship game)

February 11, 200620 yr Author There wouldn't be any byes. Right now there are 16 teams and in this format there would also be 16 teams. so no one gets a bye. Basically it would be the same as the sweet 16 is now with a couple of changes. right now all 16 regions draw to see who plays each other. In this format the 12 public regions will draw and play each other. and the 4 private regions will draw and play each other. In other words at the sweet 16 the first six games of the first round would be public vs. public schools. The last 2 games would be private vs. private. for example a tournament might go like this Public region 3 Public region 6 Public region 1 Public region 1o Public region 5 Public Region 8 Public Region 7 Public region 2 Day 2 Public region 12 Public Region 9 Public Region 11 Public Region 4 Private region North Private region West Private Region South Private Region East The only way for a public team to be eliminated by a private school ( not counting the championship game) would be if they lost on saturday morning to the private school survivor. And if the private schools complained that they had to play the last games every year you could alternate it and have them play the 1st 4 games in the tournament every other year. It would work out the same way. What do you think?

You know I really didn't want to write this, and stopped myself numerous times, but the more I read your posts, the harder it got for me not to post. So after going back and fourth so many times, about what to write and how to answer your thoughts, I finally didn't write anything except for whats at the end of this page.... This is what I thought of your opinion, did you notice the huge, waste of space?

It has nothing to do with the 14,15,16 or 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13. It has to do with a level playing field for the kids from all regions. Even these horrible, mountain kids should get a fair level of comp. The privates have a distinctive advantadge. Do your research. I assume the bold print is good mountain english!!

I'm wondering that too! :lol: Even if an evil private boys team gets deep in a tournament, they seem to fall before the feet of the good and gracious public schools! :lol: Even the largest of the boys schools, with all that pro-level talent stolen from the public schools seem to fall.

You won't get an answer to this....I have asked about the boys basketball situation a 100 times. I have come to the conclusion that if publics kick around the privates in basketball it is completely acceptable but turnabout is not fair play when it come to football.

I started a thread on the very same thing....with no answers... We have all the talent, all the money, blah, blah, blah, and whatever other excuse that you can thing of....that's why we win in football....if so those same excuses would make us basketball powerhouses as well....

Look to some other states for ideas on how this issue is resolved. There are not enough privates in the state to have seperate tournaments and be meaningful.
